Nope it's a little pin inside the motor that's not grabbing on to the starter

Ah, yes. Forgot about that little guy. I'll bet it's not in there any more.

There should also be a spring with the pin!

Yeah need to make sure the spring is in the hole behind the little pin. First time i tore my f4.6 down i almost lost that pin myself. Without the spring it wont push out and engage with the backplate shaft to turn engine over.
