Well its time for me to retire the Tmaxx and get me a serious MT. I'm torn between 3 trucks actually, the Team Losi LST2, Savage X, and the Savage XL.
Here's the ups and downs for each:

LST2 - Decent motor, Good handling, Nice radio, Not sure about durability.

Savage X - Durability, Good power, Seems hard to work on???

Savage XL - Nice upgrades from the X, Too little power for a big truck?

Well what I'm looking for is a truck to bash on the weekends, but i also want good acceleration and handling. I have friends that i run with and they have a Losi aftershock and a revo 3.3 so i need to keep up with them on the track. Anyway I'm leaning toward the lst2 because it seems to handle great and is easy to work on, well i just wanted some input on anyone who is running these trucks. thanks.

Ya i noticed the new XXL but i was wondering if it would be similar to the Savage XL, a big under powered truck

The LST2 is really the way to go. BUT I have had the X and the LST and loved them both. LST is easier to wrench and the tranny can handle the power. the LST has a more stable chassis IMO. The savage is more squirrly but dang it is tough.

The losi's are the way to go in my book...
especially with how i have never gotten actual help from HPI.

U have always liked the LST series. I've seen one at the track once in good hands and it got around VERY nicely. Almost too good for an MT. I've read they are plenty resilient as well. I'd go Losi hands down. Btw, I am completely unbiased as I own neither now have I ever driven either.

Ya that seems to be the way I'm leaning, Losi, but has anyone ran a savage on the track? just curious as to how they would make out?

Savages require pretty extensive mods to be track worthy. Lots of money.
Adam Drake took a LST2 with a Mach 427 and some sway bars..... lapped the entire field several times at the last big monster race. The Revo and Savage are no match for the Losi on the track. My bud's race prepped Aftershock set-up just like Adam Drakes truck was untouchable on the track. Smaller tracks where the only time a Revo had the advantage.
i personally hate the LST 2-speed and the steering linkages. PITA too work on to me. That's my only gripe about it.

I am surprised that the Savage fans haven't been pounding this thread touting the Savvy... Anyway, you can never go wrong with a Losi of any kind and the LST line (LST, 2, Aftershock) is really tough. The only bad thing I will ever say is that the bodies are really thin and will crack and break in no time flat.

Frankly, I'm not. They might be able to tout durability but they know a RTR Savage is junk on the racetrack. Making a Savage raceworthy is like making a T-Maxx bashworthy. They are like polar opposites.

Well it seems you guys have definately swayed my decision to a Losi, the only problem i have now is whether to upgrade to the LST XXL? the only reason i ask is because of the radio that the XXL comes with, that thing is beautiful, that is one thing that i've always wanted to upgrade from my traxxas, those things are crap.
Ok so is it worth the upgrade to the XXL or not?

The radio that comes with the LST2 is good, no need to upgrade IMO.

That's because you keep landing on your lid :p:.

Flipping is having a good time!!!

You will really like the JR radio gear in the LST2. The XXL looks cool but I don't know how the extended this and longer that is going to effect the setup. Losi got is right from the start with the LST, so I can't for the life of me figure out why they would change it. "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

That is one great observation! :hehe:
