RC Driving Style
hello. i have just got myself a savage x. I have just started to break it in and i am on my 1st tank so the car is up on bricks. I got the car started fine and was idling nicely. After about 3mins the speed started to increase and the wheels were moving quite quickly. I tried changing the idle adjustment screw which starts to bring the speed down but then stalls.

Any ideas?

Thanks Pete

dont bring the idle down as far

what break in procedure are you going with?

i broke in my buddies 4.6 in his X SS, 3 tanks of idle, and then 4th tank of idleing, throttle here and there, 5th tank, little bit more throttle, 6th tank more throttle, 7th tank...WHEELIES

Breaking in thoughts

I also have new sav x and since I live here in Italy and 20% is hard to come by I though I would try a new breakin procedure where I use 12 or 16% Nitro mix whihch is readily available and break it in slow with that. I dont see a need to idle through tanks full of Nitro. I feel it should be moded a little a t least. And when or if I return to the US I will readjust for the 20% notro mix. I feel that the lower nitro breakin will benefit the engine in the long run with the extra lube. Any thoughts???

3 tanks at idle! Man, I can't believe you didn't have problems.

I always run my engines from idle to about 1/2 throttle through 3 tanks, trying to get the temps up to 200F. Typically, by the end of tank 2, the temps are up to 200 and I start leaning a bit to get them up more. I also allow it to cool down about every 5 minutes of running with the piston at BDC. By tank 6, I'm normally tuning for rich running and I'm driving it at a decent pace.
