ok i just love this truck AWESOME:first_place: but i have turned that brake adjustment like 1000 times and still the brakes suck. my buddy's truck (savage x just like mine) his almost flips over when he its the brakes...:alarm:

so what am i doing wrong here??

oh and also do you have to have "shock oil" or can i just use any oil in the shocks? had one fall apart today bashing around:pepper:

You need SILICONE shock oil or you'll dissolve the seals and O-rings.
As for the brakes, use a stronger spring or a piece of fuel line. Make sure you don't have oil or grease on the discs.

The beak pads have a tendency to come off the backing plates. Look down in there to see if this has happened. If so I suggest using JB Weld to glue them on.

get the dual disc kit that comes on the XL or get the crazy nut racing brakes if you can find them

my brakes suck too on my x 4.6 i can't stop at all i have to turn the truck a million tiumes just to get it to slow down:angry:

it looks to me its coming out of the exhaust. do i have it running too rich maybe? my engine is running about 230F i hate to lean it more....

I run mine at around 250-270F. But ya, for the breaks get the dual fiberglass disk brakes and like Rolex said you can use a stronger spring or a piece of fuel line, cuz i had the same problem in the beginning(no brakes or barely any). It did it for me.

You'll need to install a silicone exhaust deflector to direct the flow to the side or rear where it can't get on the brake pads.

i know this is a old post but i have this problem also could you take a pic so i can see what i need to do

Not the best pic I could find, but you get the idea.
it's the gray tube, and it directs the exhaust farther back, closer to the ground, or out to the side.

I am sure thats a critical component on your rig. :p:

Have you checked the front bearing on your motor, used to have one that leaked. Flung fuel, and oil, close to the brake. Bought another motor off E-bay, f-n stops great now.(NOLEAK)
