HI,
when the truck moves forward i have noticed 3 things
1. The front wheels skids and then the truck moves forward
2. Once the truck moves forward i see the fornt tyres not holding the ground as if only there is torque only from the rear.
3. When i hit the brakes the rear wheels stops, but the front wheels are still in motion as if the brakes are only working at the rear.
i checked the dog bone and noticed that when i move any two wheels from rear or from front in the same direction, only either fornt wheels or rear wheels moves.
but not all four.
what could be the problem.
pls suggest.

probabaly your front diff. its the most common problem for the savage and would explain the behavier.

If your front tires are skidding, a possible cause is the front end drivetrain being bound up. Take a closer look and see if you can spot any rocks near the drive shafts. Also, check for bent shafts.

Lastly, failing an external attempt at finding the cause, check into the internals. Luckily, this is done by merely removing the skid plate and looking through a little window.

If you do manage to spot something inside the diff housing, since yours is the X, removal of the diff is a lot easier. Refer to the owners manual for a diagram of which screws to remove.

heart break, i checked the diff and the drive train. its all fine. but i noticed one thing that is the rear cup joint which holds the dog bone and the transmission shaft did not have have a set screw. when i fixed a new set screw , all the four wheels were moving. i think this should be the reasons. what say?????

Sounds probable to me. Make sure you put a drop of blue threadlock on the screw before installing it, or you may have this problem again.
