RC Driving Style
Well, finally got back into RCing after a 9 month abscence. Anyway, I have a savage with a wasp 28 in it. Before I put it away last winter, I had the problem of my car not moving after it got warm. I thought it was my fly wheel collar(the brass sleeve that the flywheel compresses onto) so I changed it yesterday. Well, she started right up and I was warming it up in the driveway, and sure enough had the same problem. This time I noticed that the gears were spinning, so it wasn't slipping at the flywheel, but it won't move, just sit there and revs up. Is my tranny shot possibly?? Don't think it is the clutch shoes, because the clutch bell is spinning the spur gear...anyone have any clues??

Ha ha ha, nice avatar.

I remember checking the slipper clutch nut the first time I had this problem, everything was good. I will check it again. I believe that is why I thought it was something else, because the slipper was Ok.

Anyone know what size the nut on the slipper is?? Gonna have to find a wrench so I don't have to pull the motor....again....

Check the transmission outdrives. The trans might be spinning, but if the grub screws that secure the outdrives to the transmission shafts are loose, the shafts will spin inside the outdrives and the truck won't move...

Have you picked it up off the ground and tried applying throttle?

Haven't tried applying power off the ground. I will check all the tranny stuff tonight. I am hoping it is something that simple, just need to tighten something up.

if the tranny drive cups are fine, double check the diff cup aswell. it might be slipping from there too. last thing i would check in the hex in the wheels. make sure they are not stripped or that u lost the pin holding the hex in place.

I had that same problem with my first gen savvy.(.21BB)Turns out, one of the set screws inside the tranny, on the 2-speed shaft I think, had come loose. It would hold until the engine got up to operating temp and started producing full power, after that, it would just rev up. I hope this isn't your problem but its something to consider. I would check all the easily accessable things first. Good luck

Hmmm, sounds more like what Nitrobuzzard stated. It will roll around while I am warming it up, and I can blip the throttle and make it lunge forward. When it gets to the point that I can give it full throttle, it lasts like 15 seconds and then starts revving up.

Hope I get it figured out, this started happening right after I put the wasp in it, so I havent even got to see what the wasp will do in my savvy :\

I was kind of thinking that as well, maybe just get the 3 speed tranny if something is wrong. That way I can barrell roll it 8 times instead of 6
