Well as some of you guys remember I was having some trouble getting fuel in Guyana. But I GOT THROUGH!!!.. Hooked up with a few other older people that race rcs, they had a revo and 2 TNX, they told me the tmaxx broke in half after running under a tocoma. Anyhow, I tore up those trucks in the grass and everyone got pissed.. :P

Anywayz, the problem is that when I try to start the truck the rotostart just spins. I took out the backplate, looked at the one way bearing and when I insert it back in. It worked fine, then tripped again, today now I took it out again and a pin fell out, and then another pin. I already ordered another one way bearing, but can anyone tell me why does this happen and methods to prevent it.

holding the start button to long will do it (supposed to only hold it 5 seconds)

trying to start it when the engine is flooded will destroy it very quick as well

I'm no expert, but i think its one of the things (one way) that we know were gonna have to change out from time to time

Well I havn't even passed half a gallon yet.

I think it is the part with holding the roto start. I lent a friend and I think he held it down.

I'm guilty of that as well, although MINE didnt come out in pecies lol :)

out of curiosity how much do you pay for a gallon of nitro there?

OWB's can go at anytime. There are no hard and fast rules as to how long they last. Some last a long time, some blow after a quart. It just depends. To prevent blowing them too soon, don't hold the starter for more than five seconds at a time, keep the rotostart gears cleaned and lubed, don't try using it on a flooded engine and don't let the batteries in the starter get too low.

Like RP said, it is a part that will wear out.

I'm just under a gallon on my savy, and mine just went out as well.. If ya notice it starting to slip a little bit, best bet is to take it out and clean it. It will last a little longer but once they start slipping, there isnt much life left.

About $10 000 Guyana Dollars a gallon, say about 200 is the exchange rate. Like $50 us, I know it's expensive.

Doesn't the pullstart use a one way bearing also ?

Yes a pullstart uses a one-way but its easier to feel when its flooded so you don't destroy it as quick. Also your arm doesn't apply the same kind of torque on it constantly, pullstarters will help it last a bit longer, but can be more of a pain to use for some people.

yes a pullstart uses a one way as well but you will be very very tired from pulling the cord before you destroy the one way. Also, if the engine is flooded you will feel it right away with a pull start and stop pulling. With a rotostart its very hard to tell unless your listening to the motor on the roto start tool very closely.

I have just under a gallon on my s-25 and I have gone through 2 one way bearings. Last time it destroyed itself I ordered 2 of them. This way if it happens again I have a spare to fix it right away and can still run my Savage while the replacement is on its way.

Current exchange is .00523 something so about $52US.
Is that including shipping? Because of shipping rules fuel can only be bought online 1 quart at a time. So a gallon works out to about the same price even here in the US. Was $47 at Towerhobbies.com and $51 at Horizonhobby.com

$50 a Gallon ??? OUCH.... Glad to hear your havin a blast with the Savage.... Great truck..

nope, you will have to wait till you get another one way, you can't use a starter box on a savage ...so i think your kinda stuck .....sorry :(

grrrrrr.........Is there a more durable one way bearing than HPI's replacement ?

it will just be VERY difficult for the rotostart motor to turn the engine over. So it will slow down, it will strain, it will put ALOT of stress on the bearing, conrod, motor, etc...

Thanks, now I know better :P

Guess what, today I got a license to bring in 100 gallons of NITRO
:D

well dont do it all in one shot!!!. Nitro does go bad if stored toooo long.

That way, they deduct it from the 100 gallon. Might start selling to people :D
