I stuck the roto start in and it tried and tried and nothing happened. So when i finally got the damn thing running (had to go to the shop and get it started for me) i let it idle for its first tank. Then when we tried to start it for its second tank it wouldnt turn over. So then we charged my battery that didn't work. So we went to get a knew battery that didnt work. So we hooked it to a drill and started to use that. The engine makes a sound like it wants to turn over but it never does. you all know what I'm talking about the put put sound. So now i think that either my gears are stripped, or something really weird is going on. I'm going back to the shop in two days so maybe he can resolve this. Anyone have any suggestions. My rotostart is completely fried. doesn't even turn. Id I've read the drill isnt such a great idea. But if it comes down to it ill to anything to get my truck going. Comments please

You one way bearing may be toast.

When you run your first few tanks it is set so rich that it can hydro-lock easily. This can keep the rotostart from being able to turn it over. If this is the case you can loosen the glow plug and turn it over to release some of the pressure. There are problems with the push button switch on some of the rotostarts. If yours happens to be one of them with the pushbutton problem HPI will send you a new one free of charge.

I had the same problem. I got the truck, tried starting it the first time, and it hydrolocked because it got flooded. I emptied out the cylinder, and now it was able to turn over. I tried starting it some more, and all the sudden, there was a clank and the roto-start would turn, but the motor wouldn't turn over. If the roto start is turning, but the motor isn't turning over, the one-way bearing is shot. I went through two in a week. I called HPI, and they sent me another one, and this one hasn't broken in 2 months. The problem can be fixed, but just call HPI, they're hard to get ahold of, but they are prompt and polite. I love my truck, the Savage 25, and your's will work soon. :flaming: :flaming: :OMG:

I guess I have been lucky (Knock on Wood) that I have not fried a one-way yet. I have run about almost 2 gallons through mine with no trouble. Then again I did have one slight problem...the screwhole that the bottom left of the rotostart mounts to on the backplate broke off, yes the bottom of the screwhole broke off. Now I only have two screws holding on the rotostart backplate....
