Does any one have an idea of what if any lubrication should be in a 4.6 savage trans? no reverse. Thanks

Nope...no lube. It is a dry transmission. There is a OWB in there and if you lube the tranny it will slip and your transmission will not work properly. I know, it does seem like there should be something but that is just how they work.

I'm with Joey. Lube it, ruin it. I even thought my high dollar Teflon Dry Ice race lube on just the gears would work. a few tanks later I stripped both of the first gears. Savage Trannies go for 20-30 bucks new on E-Bay. Even with a super strong engine they can go over 8 gallons with no maintainence. it's all in the shift point setting.

I put in dry Molly lube and the OWB in the tranny quit then I was SOL. That was my excuse to tear it down and go with the 3 speed. So it was not all for loss but still kinda a PITA. Also unless you have a BIG area to run in the three speed in kinda un-needed. The stock is pretty strong....I put a lot of fuel and time through one with out breakage. Broke other stuff....the reverse module...then pulled it back out. But yeah I know it sounds temping to lube it but I tried it for ya already.... ;-)
