Savage SS stock body decals

The pictures of the SS shown on the HPI site show the truck with a two tone body. The top of the truck is blue and there is grey on the wheel wells and on the bottom of the body. Is the grey area a decal or did they paint the body two different colors?

The colors are painted; the words are decals.

Yup the gray is painted. If you want to do that you just paint the inside blue, then cut the protactive film off where you want it gray and spray the outside gray where you cut the film. That is what they did on that body. I read it froom the HPI Forum.

I thought that painting the outside was not the proper way to paint. The paint is going to chip & scratch when you bash.

Always paint a lexan body from the inside.

This post on HPI's forum does say they painted the bottom on the outside. I guess they just did that for showing, not running or bashing.

Yup, they did for showing mainly. I do not suggest doing this but if you want a body for show, go for it.
