I BROKE IN A WASP 28 ON MY SAVAGE BUT COULD NEVER SEEM TO GET IT TUNED IN CORRECTLY.
MY SAVAGE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND GR AT TIMES. THINKING I DIDINT HAVE MY ENGINE TUNED IN PROPERLY I SWITCHED OVER TO MY MACH 26 THAT IS TUNED PERFECT AND RUNNING LIKE A CHAMP.
SAME RESULTS THE SAVAGE JUST WHINES OUT AND SCREAMS BUT WILL NOT SHIFT.
JUST PUT A 90.00 CLUTCH NEW ON AND I KNOW THIS MACH 26 IS PRODUCING THE RPMS
ANY SUGGESTIONS GUYS ON WHAT I SHOULD DO OR WHERE I SHOULD START
THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Maybe it is your shift point, I know my step-dad picco when he first got it the savage would not shift but if you took it slowly you would hear it shift. First I would check if your slipper is not to loose then I would check your shift point.

First off please turn off your caps. Hard to read and it is taken as YELLING!

Second, what is your operating temp? Have you messed with your 2 speed adjustment? Are these motors new or broken in? I mean broken in as in after around 6-10 tanks IMO of running with minimal throttle and letting the engine cool down with the Piston at Bottom Dead Center always. ARO after each run. Temps never going above 210-220. If you have done this then I would check the tranny. Let us know what you have done.

my wasp 28 took almost 10 tanks to break in. After the 10th tank, lean the high speed needle about 1/2 turn in 1/8 increments. It was like night and day after the 10th tank. Also, check your 2 speed grub screw, it may have backed out.

Are you really sure it is not shifting? Maybe it is just shifting very fast and you cannot hear it. Try to accelerate slowly at part throttle and then very slowly give it a little more gas until you are wide open. Listen carefully to the motor, see if you can hear a shift.

If you cannot hear a shift take the body off and pick it up by the roll bar. Give it some gas from an idle and let it rev a bit. Very slowly give it more gas until you are eventually wide open. See if you can hear and/or see it shift. Do not let it rev freely for very long when you have the wheels off the ground or you may damage the motor.

If you still do not hear a shift shut down the motor and pull the little rubber plug out of the side of the two speed, and put the truck on the ground. Spin the spur by hand. When spinning it counter-clockwise the truck should start to move forward. When spinning it clockwise it should freewheel and the truck should NOT move.

Spin it clockwise until you can see a gap in second gear. When the gap in second gear is visible stop rotating. You should now be able to see the silver clutch hub. Hold the spur steady and lift both left side wheels off the ground leaving the right side wheels on the ground. With the transmission in forward (if you have the REV module) slowly rotate the tires in the forward direction (counter clockwise). The silver clutch hub will rotate "up" and you should see the clutch arm. Take a thin pointy device and see if the clutch arm is “free”. Carefully try to open the clutch arm on the free end, not the pivot end. If the arm is free then you probably have a shift point adjustment problem. Continue to rotate the clutch hub (holding the spur). The arm will pass, the clutch mounting screw will pass (flat, on-center hole), and then the shift point screw will pass (angled off-center hole). Carefully screw the shift point adjuster in until it stops, do not force the screw or you will damage the springs on the arm’s pivot point. Back it out 4 turns and see if the truck will shift.
