Savage Purchase Question

I'm planning on getting a Savage this weekend but I have 2 quick questions to help out my decision:

1) Should I buy used or new? The only thing I fear of getting used is the engine and/or tuning issue of a used engine. Also is it worth buying used, if you know you have to replace parts.

2) Are there any "must" upgrades for the savage??

what type of savage are you geting?
i would buy i new one but if you can get a good deal on a used one then i would get a used one.
for must upgrades i would get a motor saver, fuel filter and fail safe.

Id get new, because knowing that the savage is as tough as it gets, u never know if that person knew the same thing and put it to the test.
Only upgrades are what tannera said, a motor saver air filter, fuel filter, and fail safe.

i think it dose have a bulit in fuel filter but it is best to put a fuel filter on anyway.

I would also recommend buying new, if this is your first MT.
The Savage fuel tank has a built in stone filter at the bottom of the pickup. Many R/C'ers, including myself, feel the need for an external fuel filter that can be inspected & cleaned regularly. It's not a necessary upgrade though. You will find the recommended upgrades here:

I believe the 25 version at www.rushrc.com (site sponser) has the 25 RTR version with the 4-spider diff mod and new cam type steering servo savare already.

get it new, it is 98% assembled and it is very easy to install the rest. dont worry about tunning it or break in, the savage 25 instructions are very easy and clear.
