While bashing with some friends at our local BMX track I discovered that the stock header was rubbing against the TVP and had already made a small gash on it.

Solution: I slit a small piece of fuel line and placed it on the TVP where the friction was.

Check it or you may lose a good header.

Yes this is actually a known issue with the Savage. Another thing to do besides the fuel line on the sharp edge is to round the edge of the chassis plate.
 
Heads up if you put a Picco .26 on it. The header sits farther toward the rear. I was out doing some minor bashing one day and landed on the right rear quarter. The tower flexed, the shock closest to the header got shoved into the header and snapped in half (crosswise). Had to make a mod to change the geometry of the rear shocks to get them more vertical and no more binding problem. It also dented the snot out of the header too.
