today i finally got my new spur gear put in and i fired it up it fired right away and i didntk now if i had my slipper cluthc set right so i figured it was slow and sluggish for that well itightened the slipper clutch up and now it was doing the same thing so i started to see if the tuning was off for some reason and i couldnt fix it so do u guys have ne suggestions as to y the savage isnt working right

Unfortunately, at this point, it could be lots of things. If the engine is revving way up and it's not moving real fast, check the clutch shoes and/or the flywheel. If you notice the spur gear spinning with what seems like the right speed, it could be in the tranny. I've never had trouble with mind, so I'm not sure there. You say you've tightened the slipper down, so you've covered that. An obvious one would be to make sure your new spur gear hasn't been eaten up by a bad mesh. Good Luck!

did you check the clutch shoes and springs? is your spur gear meshed right, small piece of photo paper in between spur gear and clutch bell gear and then tighten? tighten the spur gear all the way down and back it off 1/4 inch?

did you make sure the break isn't dragging. dragging break will keep it from freely and will melt the spur gear.
if it's tuned then it's in the clutch shoes or spur/cog train.

need to narrow down the problem. some other more experienced guys on here my be able to help you further.

somehow someone messed with my needle setting so i reset the needles to the factory setting and messed the spur gear again and now it runs a little better then i leaned it out a bit and now it runs better than before but thanks for the help also one of the clutch shoes wasn't quite right
