Try holding the bell still. after you have had the mesh set properly. Then, move the spur back and forth. It should not have any play. If it does, then you have A.) the mesh is set wrong, or B, there are some bolts in the back of the frame, (they hold the back of the X frame to the base plate that the motor mounts on) and they might be missing. I have been throu 20+ spurs and at least 5 bell housings discovering these problems. If this doesn't work then you need to change the gearing. You might have it too high and be tearing the gears up due to high torque.
