I got a savage with a STS d30m engine in it and it doesn't want to start. doesn't seem like its getting fuel. any ideas?

take the air filter off and put some fuel right in the carb, it should fire up, even if its just for a second. then you know its a fuel problem and start looking at your lines. You could be sucking air if one of your lines is cracked. Fuel filter or pick-up could be plugged. But see if it will run on the direct injection through the carb first, to see if it is indeed a fuel problem and not something else. We'll go from there.
Let us know

check your lines, place your finger over the exhaust tip to build pressure and force fuel into the motor. fiddle with the trigger while doing this.

i always ran clear tubing so i could see the fuel

take fuel lines off and put them in a sink of water. pinch the other end, blow in the other end and look for bubbles.

Is this a new motor or used? Do you know how many gallons it has through it? Do you know how the needles are set. You may have to set them back to factory and start over. Really need more information before we start throwing out fixes.
