I've run through about 5 tanks an have just started beginning tuning after following break in instructions. Truck absolutely screams an is very easy to time but it dies when I apply brakes. Should the clutch need adjusted or what?

if you lowered your idle that could be it, check the gap to be .7-1mm then what you want to do is apply the brake. If it closes all the way you want to set it so it does not happen. I find some people will use the trim on there remote to lower idle speed but for me i just do it on the motor. Check that out and get back to us. And when you do a brake in you run rich which can cause the glow plug to not work right. I would all so pull the glow plug and make sure it working as it should .

Your idle gap is too small, open it up just a hair with the needle screw. Pull the air cleaner off and look at the gap, when you hit the brakes it should never close all the way.

that is what i was leaning towards, maybe a bad glow plug. He just did the brake in and i tell ya i seen some crazy things from a glow plug that was starting to fail.

Yup. After break in I usually just toss the glow plug out and put in a fresh one.

I do the same, i got a hand full of extras. If the op has not got extra plugs i would go get a few . I agree to threw them a way i had buddy who would hold on to them. I told him you do not want to mix good ones with ones that are poor.

That is how you are supposed to do it. For those new to nitro...you should never use throttle trim to set your idle, as that is not what's for.

Easy rule of thumb: when you brake there should be no change in the 'gap' (i.e. it should not close any further than when throttle is at neutral). Easy test is to idle with throttle at neutral then apply brake. If you hear idle drop (or engine shuts down)..you know your trim is off. If you find yourself in a situation like this, always remove servo horn...put trim back to neutral and start over. If you need to fine tune anything, do via your link setup.

I adjusted the idle screw a little bit. Gap was way to small. Also trashed my old glow plug an put a fresh one in there. Now truck works perfectly! Thanks for the help!

yeah , once again like i said in my post , lol check the gap or glow plug.

way to go, keep at it. Get another glow plug if you do not have one, now that you have a new one as you lean out your motor you could cause that one to fail. Sucks but check temps and you can check the glow plug it self. I have seen some that burn up pretty bad. I do tend to think you have this under control and go out there and have fun. Do all changes in small amounts. some say look at the screw as if it is a face of a clock and do it in one hour turns. I tend to follow that and never had a issue.

Also make sure that your idle gap is set to about 1mm with the brakes on.

Check to make sure your clutch bearing are good. If they are locked up then putting the brakes on will kill the engine.
