I've broke 3 of the little plastic pieces that hold the top hinge pins in and give the bumper/skid some upper support. Either the bolt shears off from the bumper or it gets ripped out of the plastic piece.

Anyone else have this problem? I know it's a small problem, but it's annoying none the less.

I always snap the screws that hold them to the bumpers. The best thing I've found to do is just buy more screws. The way I see it is if those don't break something else will and it will probably cost more. I think GPM makes a set of alloy mounts but again if it doesn't break there it will probably break somewhere else.

Yeah, I wouldn't put alloy up there. They are designed to take the brunt of the impact and flex. Aluminum will simply bend there & you will have to rebend it. Myself and some friends have taken some pretty hard crashes on the front & back bumpers and haven't experienced that.

The only thing that we have done, was to loosen up the screw that holds the body mount in place. That way when you do land head down on the front of the truck, the body mount arms will have room to flex right by the screw, and not rip out. Try giving them a couple of turns to simply loosen them up and allow some additional flex up front. That might help you out.

Actually, I drilled a hole clear through the braket and ran a long bolt through it and put a nut on the back side. I'm using a 3mm machine bolt instead of the coarse thread screw that's stock. I'm hoping it holds up better.

Here's a shot of what I did:

That mod is a common mod done on parts where the sheet metal or coarse thread screw wears out the threads of the hole. I did that on a few areas on my T-Maxx when I had it, and it works fine.

You might consider a shorter screw. Why? When you take that nose on collision or landing your brackets might flex enough to let those long protuding screw ends to do some damage to your shocks, your towers, or anything else lined up behind them.
