Is it possible to make the Savage race ready? I'm not concerned with cost. What I'm concerned with is if I decide to race down the road that I can with modifications. Could it ever be a contender against the Revo?:thankyou:

Absolutely. Since your not concerned with the money issue, yes the savage can be a great contender next to a revo. Youll have to do a bit of upgrading but yes.

That's all I wanted to know. Thank you. I think I may get the Savage. It's a little less, like $100.00 here in Canada. That'll buy a few hopups. Thanks so much Savage18SS. Looks like I'll be a regular to this site, once I get back from the LHS!! WooHoo!!! Looks like they've upgraded a few things since the 21? Cool. What place would I look for a different body??

Actually, I just looked up and saw the ads between the posts. But if you know where to get a new body for it...please feel free to say.

of course it can.....do a little bit of google hunting and you will find savages set up for racing.

Cool. Thanks. I'm getting the Savage Limited - I think. Revo is the same price so.....

HPI also makes bodies for the savage. The savage can definetely race with a Revo, it'll just cost more to get it to where the Revo is for racing. Makes a better bashe tho.

When you get the savage... buy a spare set of axle carriers (uprights) and a spare set of shocks of ebay. I'd also suggest lunsford turnbuckles. The stockers suck.

I don't think it would take much to make the savage a decent racer. Maybe a better steering servo, lighter springs, bowties and give it a rip at the track.

Of course, it's not the truck that wins the race, it's the driver. (or so I'm told ;) )

my bud got a savy racers and he got LST shock on it .... and to help you out in race NOT FOR BASHING ajustale a-arm

for the rest i dont know maybe a low profile chassis tvp i see on ebay

I've seen the review on the Savage Limited and they say the steering servo is weak. So, what would be a high torque servo to get?? I always see people mention the Hitec645mg. Is this the right one?

yeah ther great both of my truck got these servo 130 oz of torque at 6volt voltage its good for me at the speed of that its 0.20 sec

ohhhh i forgot to tell you if your not familairy (sorry I'm french) with the savage its pain in the ass the play with it ...like cleanning and fix some part harde to reach .....its the only weak thing i can said about the savage

I thought you were french being from Montreal. I was in Montreal years ago, it's a beautiful city. I'd love to go back some day. Thanks for the help with the savage.

Merci. That's about all the french I know, I'm ashamed to say.

this is my savage its race ready if i wanted to race, sry this pic is when it was being rebuilt, so there are a few things not instaled yet.

It's what I use. If you can afford more $ for a higher torque/faster one, I'd suggest it. Especially if racing is in your future. The 645MG gets the job done, but something with 200oz and .10-15 transit time would do wonders on a track.

Something like this bad boy would make your tires snap left and right and hold them wherever you want them.

Although, it's a little more the twice the cost of the 645MG, it's almost also 3 times more powerful and quite a bit faster as well.
