Yesterdat i was at my local track and there was a guy there with a "stock" savage 21. And my friend with his new ss 4.6. The guy with the 21 wanted to race my friend. So they went on the track and the 21 kicked the 4.6's butt so bad. I don't know why. We asked the guy if we could see his truck, so he showed us and it looked like a stock 21, but he still kicked my friends butt! Anyone Know why this could have happened?!

It could have been a number of things. The main thing I would be is the 4.6 was not tuned well at all, and the .21 could have been on the sweet spot. The .21 also could have been modded...but that still wouldn't give it enough to beat the .28. The gearing could have been different, different tires, theres a number of variables that come into play.

maybe he was just a better driver? i beleive that if your a good enough driver, you could beat anyone with anycar as long as it runs enough to get around the track.

But yea, maybe urs was out of tune, gearing. Like AC said, lots of possibilities.

I can almost guarantee it was the driver.

I have a buddy of mine who thinks he's a racer but cannot keep his truck running to even make it around the track one lap.

Don't sneeze at those 21's either. They'll get up and go when they're tuned right.

No man, my friend is one of the top drivers at the track. The 21 had everything the same(tires, shocks, exaust) pretty much stock!

Tuning can be a big issue. Suspension setup. And I believe the Savage 21 uses a different stock gear ratio than the Sav 4.6.

Actually i think the 21's gear ratio is very close to the 4.6's.

Besides, two awesome drivers & one has a 4.6 and the other has a 21. The 4.6 would win hands down. By the way, i talked to my friend and he said the guy had the stock mill in it!

Sometimes less power = faster. I say its a combination of a few things....

1) your buddy isn't as good a driver as he thinks he is
2) the other guy has a race setup on his truck (my truck is pretty much stock, but the setup isn't even close to the same as stock)
3) the .21 may have been tuned better then the .28

It has to be one of the above reasons. One of my friends has a Savy 21 and it's not even close to the 4.6, both mills are stock and I tuned both of them........Not even close.

Thx u guys, now i can tell my friend he needs to learn how to set up a car right. I know that if he would have tuned it right that he would have smoked the 21's butt!

Diff oils and shock oils/springs make a big difference when racing. Bashing isn't as much setup, but more beef up.

Setting up a car either takes a lot of trial and error, or some research. I'm not a savvy owner, I run a revo, but its easy to find revo setups. Do some research then challenge the guy to race again.

I totally respect anyone that has a revo. I wouldn't mind having a revo to race and my savvy for bashing.

I've heard a lot about diff oils saving seconds off a race!

yea, they make lots of difference if you go from thick snot for bashing and to thin oil for racing setups.

Today was the best. My friend and i got a hold of the guy with the 21. We asked him if he wanted to race. He said he would. So we went out on the track to race. Thank God i joined them in the race. It was a 10 lapper. On the 4th lap the guy's engine went dead. He said he didnt know what was wrong because he just rebuilt the engine 2 weeks ago. When we all took it apart, i noticed the engine running at least 2 turns lean past fac settings. Plus he was rinning 33% nitro. So i guess we found out why he was going so stupid fast!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, i almost beat my friends 4.6 with a 25. That definatly made my day. He won because he always went ahead out of the corners because of the gearing and stuff.

I say driver skill too...I mean, if I can take my poorly tuned savage SS (the one w/ the S-25) and beat a GS SUT CE, then comon.... (yes, I have done this before)

of course driver skill/suspension adjustments come in to play, however the 4.6 is a diffrent animal than the "stock"savage 21.

yeah the .21 will get up when it wants to. it just has to be tuned right and it will be faster than most people think including me
