I'd put a new plug in it before going any further, too. Did you try to contact FS?

I bought a new plug, but it was completely wrong (forgot to take the old one with me)

but while I had the plug out, I tested it again..

has an intermittent fault... doesn't always spark...

*sigh*

I'll let you all know if the new plug fixes it!

The intermittent spark could also be rust on the magneto. It's on the flywheel. If it doesn't have electronic ignition it will also have points and a capacitor that will need to be checked.

no, it was the plug.

I shoved a piece of wire in the end of the lead, and got a good strong spark every time.

so I replaced the dodgy plug with an NGK and it started first time

now to tune it... again! lol

I might leave it how it is.. seems to do wheelies... lmao.

ok, here's the scenario now...

it's running quite well, WOT on grass results in it going sideways along the straight, and fishtailing...

however, sometimes, it just stalls, or really bogs down, so the throttle does nothing?

then when it does stall, its difficult to restart, and when it does start, it bogs down to the point where WOT results in it moving about 2km/hr...

so weird?

quite possibly, as someone suggested, the carb is rubbish... but, I dunno...

going to have another tune of it today

Those are very dependable carbs. I've had a few different lawn machines that used them, and though I sometimes had to clean them out thoroughly in the springtime, I never had to replace a single part, not even a needle or gasket.
It sounds like you're getting a bog as it warms up. I'd say your carb adjustment is still off.
When it's running, and warmed up, keep it off the ground and give it throttle as you adjust the needle till you get a good rev with every hit on the trigger.
