ok, you can't see !@#$ in the video. but You have an out of trim throttle, as well as a out of whack throttle needle. And your running wayy to lean as well. Also, to avoid you trying to get your post count higher, search Idle problems. I'm sure you can find 20+ threads on this. But that post count sure is important isnt it?

i honestly didnt know what the issue was budd , and thanks for the help , sorry bout the vid , you dnt really need to see the car , its the sound

and looking at your other thread :pulldown has started: if thats the engine your having problems with, it shouldnt be of any surprise to any of us. What kind of engine is that? If thats the kind I had 5 years ago (which I think it is) when I got my first, dont be surprised to have lost all compression after one gallon and operating temps of over 330 degrees. Those engines that come with the off brand nitro rigs are usually not worth anything. Invest in a traxxas 2.5 or a good sturdy bashing engine. No, I'm not talking a Rossi or an O'donnel or anything that will spin 50,000, those can break the bank and are made for racing only.

Hey man, you got it running!!!!!!!!!! Now you need to set your fuel system and servo properly. Before you start it back up, set your throttle so that it is not opening the carb at idle. (The opening in the carb should be about 1mm at idle.) You might have to use the trim on your transmitter or you might have to take off the linkage and adjust it on the servo. Turn on the TX and then the car. If you can't get it with the trim adjustment, remove the linkage and put it back on in the right position. Then use the tuning guide listed in the beginning of the forum to get your fuel system set correctly.

ok thanks mr bones , so the carb should be fully closed and then only open 1mm on idle ?

Yep, about the thickness of a credit card. You will then have to adjust your low speed needle. When you get it adjusted correctly, you should be able to pinch the fuel line to cut off the fuel and right before the engine stops, the rpm should rise a little and stall out. If it stalls out immediately, you need to increase the LSN. If the rpm's increases real high, you need to reduce the LSN. You can get it close and then follow the guide to set your high speed needle. After you get the HSN set you will probably have to go back and do the LSN again. They say you are supposed to do the HSN first but you kind of need the LSN to be close to start with. I looked for the manual for your engine but I didn't find it yet.

Not sure about this advice. I can't find a manual. I found on another RC forum that the factory settings are:
LSN is flush with the collar, the HSN is 3 turns out, and the idle gap is 2mm instead of 1. 3 turns out is probably rich for breaking in you engine. You will probably end up about 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 turns out.

how do u set the carb to 1mm is that with the idle screw ? or how do i set the idle screw to stock ? sorry googles not really helping and my manual doesn't help

Take the filter off so you see down into carb. You can use a paper clip straightened out to stick down into the carb carefully and turn idle screw until it touches the clip. This is approx 1mm thickness. The idle screw is the screw on the outside of the carb level with the slide on inside and all it does is set the gap. Once the gap is set you never need to turn that screw again. The low speed needle is used to adjust the idle after the high speed needle is tuned correctly. Use this link to help learn how to tune your engine.

18 CXP(Taiwan Vertex)

Yea, that sounds like what I had, two of them actually. That engine can be bought for 55 dollars (USD) on just about every knock off rc brands website. From both of the ones I had, I ran as rich as I could, and still rac wayy too hot and lost compression after a gallon or two. Get what running you can out of it and DONT buy another one of these to replace it. Invest in a better engine!

if this engine dies I'm giving up on nitro and going electric

yup, that is a result of buying a sh#tty nitro rig, nitro loses sooo many people from them buying crappy knock off rc cars for their first rig. They end up breaking a bunch of parts and have to wait for weeks for them to come in, as soon as they as they come in, they install it, go drive it for 30 minutes and break another one. +1 more week. All while HPI and traxxas etc. owners never broke a part in the first place, or broke one, went to the LHS, bought a part, and were up and running the next day. And the guy who bought an exceed (or HSP) is throwing tantrums waiting for UPS and paying 5.99 shipping every time. Your probably more fit for Electric anyway, your steering issue post indicates so. You installed your steering post, it didnt work the first time, and you went on here asking a question (though possibly to add to post count). Nitro requires tinkering, and problem solving, and maybe after fooling with it for an hour or two, then you ask questions!

not to be rude but.....

if this engine dies I'm giving up on nitro and going electric

I am not posting this to be rude, I just want to point out some things to the OP.

When you first joined this site and purchased your car we all had recommended to you that it would be better for you to cut your losses on what you bought, and save up for a real hobby grade RC. Now here you are a while later, and still you have nothing but problems.

You are not having issues with this because of the nitro, or the hobby, you are having issues because you bought a crap car and wouldn't listen to anyone trying to educate you on what you had purchased.

I know how it feels to get taken by making a bad buy, but you only make things worse by trying to fix what you bought instead of just cutting your losses and saving for something worth buying. I am by no means trying to make you feel bad, I just want you to know all the problems you have been having could have been avoided if others advice was heeded.

remember that even if you polish crap it is still crap

Well said.

i was lucky buying the thunder tiger eb4 s2, it was an impulse buy and i didn't do any research.i had nitro planes before hand but never a nitro buggy....i was so impressed with the build quality, i bought another eb4 s2 which my brother now owns and bashes around like a mad man.

to the OP, listen to these guys dude, they have been in the hobby a while and know a good car from a crap car either through experience or research......they are not just trying to annoy, piss you off etc, there telling you for your own good and to save you / themselves from headaches.

if the shoe don't fit, find one that does.

Yeah but the one guy is being a jerk about it! He asked a good question that had a point and dude decides to be an idiot. In all honesty yes the question has been answered before but hey why not point him in the right direction.

Op under the nitro section there's a sticky, it's the one about tuning a nitro engine. It goes into to good detail about setting your idle gap, even how to set it so when you hit the brakes it doesn't stall. Go check it out I'd give a link but I'm on tapatalk and can't.

Its not this one question that is the issue its the many before he has had that could be solved with a bit of searching. fact is the rig is substandard, as is the block. When dealing with a car of that caliber one has to expect problems. We have all made bad impulse buys, at least I learned from mine. I am simply trying to show the OP that the problem is the car... not necessarily him nor the hobby.

Last thing i want to see is him spending anymore time/money than he has to, and that car is a money pit plain and simple.

and heres the tuning link

I'm aware of what's going on! But hey maybe he can't afford a good brand car. So instead of being rude why not just point him in the direction, or tell Him to use the search once again. At least this time he had a valid question.

Btw I wasn't talking about you in my previous post.
