I’m new to crawlers I see on videos and stuff people running 3s on there brushed motor crawlers and most crawlers come with 3s capable ESCs. Wouldn’t that kill the motor pretty fast?

no. back in the late 80's I ran brushed motors on 20 cells,,,it was in a pulling rig but I ran 20 cells,,19turn..tekin 420 esc and 432m esc.. had a 21t motor..
Have you done any searching on some crawlers motors specs?. you have motor rates from 3.7 to 40 volts.I like to push things. like motors.. esc not so much.
servos nope not testing on fire plug or hydrant at 40 mph.. or a tree or curb..
I've seen many of just no common sense accidents in rc. Read do some bench tests then get out

Running on a 3s is possible if the ESC and motor are both rated for it.

I use 3S in all my scale & crawlers , my last axial 2 goes with oem pinon ESC 1080 & 35T on 3S , tried same config in 2S and in 3S got better trigger touch , better punch and less consumption ;)
