Ok, i have posted a few questions on this subject but still have not found a cure. My pal has had a lot of trouble with his .25, this is number 3 from H.P.I. He got his third new truck 2 days ago, its run in a treat and tuned like a church organ, the problem is that it keeps taking off all by itself or the throttle will not close off straight away so its a pain in the arse to drive.

Its not an interference problem cus i used his entire radio gear in mine and had no problems.

He has the reverse gear fitted but seems to engage correctly.

He has used my radio gear but the problem is still there.

Car runs fine, but every couple of full throttle blips the car will develope a mind of its own and go where it wants to.

This has happened with 3 trucks. Nothing is being used that has not been sent from H.P.I as brand new.

Please help if you can or is this dude just jinxed from the word GO.

I would say to check the linkage or for a sticky throttle, but if this has happened the same way three separate instances on three separate trucks...I kind of get pointed toward an external interference source.

If there are hi-power lines, radio towers, cell towers, etc in the area...you may be getting interference from them. IF someone else is running an RC in close proximity, it might be interference from their radio. Heck garage door openers, CB radios, cordless phones all can create interference. Could be anything.

YUP that is just what I was going to say. It sounds like some sort of external interference. Are you running in the same place all the time?? Are your cars running on the same frequency by chance?? Are you running a failsafe and hopefully you have a throttle return spring installed as well. With a failsafe installed you should be able to know if there is interference straight away from a stray radio signal.

is he usng fully charged batts in both the RX and TX?? tell him to get a fail safe also so if something does go wrong itdoesnt runaway

Check the batteries, check the wires for fraying or exposed wires other than that look at the surroundings.Try a different location. Are there power wires around? Sounds as if something external may be causing the glitching. I had that happen to me becuase of power lines close by.

My first thought was interference but i dont have these problems with mine. Running on waste land miles from anything man made, have tried all my radio gear in his truck and it still takes off on its own, put the radio gear back in mine and i get no trouble. Put his radio gear in my truck and it works fine so it must be something else, but what.

Can you take a small road trip and drive the truck somewhere else? If three trucks are doing the same thing, I wouldn't be in a hurry to change the truck. If you've driven the truck somewhere else and still have major problems, I'd call HPI and see what's going on.

soz domination, yes they are fully charged bats. Its H.P.I that have replaced his truck 3 times cus of the problems. Have tried many different bashing arena's with lots of different crystals. There are 5 of us altogether, we dont get out together but wherever we go its only ever his truck that becomes possesed, none of the other trucks are infected with his run of bad luck.

That would really piss me off trying to find the problem! Sounds like gremlins. Have you tried switching out the receiver and transmitter to a new system? His 25 is a rtr, maybe the crappy radio system is the problem. 27 mhz doesn't have many channels modulated to run on it.

Dogpile I'm such a damned dufus, what exact frequency are you guys running it on over there?? You didn't happen to wind up with an american version did you?? If so there is your problem. I know you guys don't use the 27mhz frequency. So what exact frequency is it on??? and you say HPI switched out the TX and RX for you??

LOL at NNF. The frequency is not an American or European or Russian or whatever. The limitations on frequencies sold in other countries have to do with their laws. IT wouldn't matter if he had a radio made for use in America with frequencies that fit our laws.

If the problem is not truck specific nor area specific, then it has to be the radio equipment in the truck. You have stated that you have tried other radio equipment in the truck with the same results.

That narrows it down to the modeler and his set up. When he recieved the new trucks, did they come with a new engine? Or did he drop in his own engine? Did he do any modifications to the truck? Did he add any metal to it, like a tank guard, or a-arms, or new shocks, or a different pipe?

If he did nothing to the truck in the way of metal upgrades, are these trucks kits or RTRs?

Everything you have stated to this point brings us to:
1. Freak of nature and this dude has bad luck
-or-
2. Your friend has made a change to the truck (in all three instances) and that change is causing the problems.

Sky I was thinking that possibly that he may have been sold an american model, ya know with an american frequency. Seems the chap is from the UK. Based on that I was guessing. If I remember right they use different frequencies over there. Correct me if I am wrong. Was not trying to give mis information at all just tryin to help every angle ya know.

They do use different frequencies over there, but it is a dictate of law. Kind of like the laws that limit which frequencies we can use over here. Yes, he could have been sent an "American" model. Yes, he could be suffering interference due to the proximity of the US freqs being close to some of their air terminal freqs. But from what he is describing, it doesn't matter what frequency he is on.

Realize, the freqency thing is not area specific. You can take an American bought radio overseas and use it. It will work just fine. If, however, it is determined that your radio is the cause of some freak accident because it does not comply with the local laws...stand the F by. They will not be too happy with you.

It is not like trying to plug an American plug into a European power outlet.

it's been posted on HPI site that a freak accident happened at the building plant. Sources says that the souls of the 3 workers has transfered into the products...

one a RS4 EVO (found in Maine)
second MT EVO (found in Arizona)
third Savage 25 (missing)

Looks like we found the missing Nitro...

JK

frequency can be an issue
batteries as well

another could be your throttle linkage and your carb...
if your carb is not on the proper angle it can stick...
you would have to lube it up with some After Run Oil..

my friends had problems as well and turns out the carb what sticking...

Thats some weird issue you got going on there.

In the meantime, install a failsafe. This way, next time it runs away, your buddy can just shut off his transmitter and the truck will come to a stop if setup properly.

Thats all I can suggest outside of what everyone else has.

First off, yes we do use the 27Mhz band or 26 or 48, FM and AM narrow band or wideband. He uses 27.095 or 27.145, i use 26.935. All 3 sets give the same results with his truck in any given area but they all work fine in mine. He has done nothing at all to any of the 3 trucks, (all brand new 25 rtr) which were replaced by H.P.I as faulty goods. He uses a new hump pack and rechargables in the trany. His entire radio system, servos and all work fine in my truck so i dont think its anything to do with them. can't be interference cus when his truck runs off we put his gear in mine and all works ok.

The carb is the only thing i have not worked on a lot although i did put a slightly stronger spring on the throttle but it did not help much. Have also tried my failsafe in his truck but it still goes where it wants to as fast as it can.

He must be jinxed to the death.
