is the eight T RTR gonna be competitive out of the Box with a decent driver ?

will I have to change anything on the truck , radio , ect ?

It comes with a great Spektrum Radio. The servo's will be up to you. More than likely you will want to upgrade the servos to something faster and stronger. Big visual differences from the race roller and the kit form are the machied aluminum parts..towers and the rear hubs and MAYBE the braces. As far as the engine and pipe. Learn from it and see what you can do with what it has to offer.

The 8T is supposed to be pretty agressive out of the box.

Yeah it is great, but real competitive racing I would change the motor & pipe to a high end one. Mabye one that is lighter and faster. Ask the guys here about motors, they know there stuff. I have a RTR 8ight-T & 8ight. It is a blast. But I do not race.

I think if you're just getting into racing that the rtr is not going to be what keeps you from greatness. As you get better and demand more from it you can upgrade to aftermarket parts, but I think overall from the rtr to a fully customized rig the differences are not going to be shocking, its not a dog by any means.

Radio is great, throttle servo sucks. As soon as you get it I would change it. Buy a good servo like a DS1313 (i think that is the #) from Ace and put it in the steering slot and move the steering one to the Throttle slot. You will be fine. Make sure to follow all of the warnings and set up instructions when you get it like setting the end points on the servos.

And get that grease out of the diffs. Fill em with 7/10/5 (front/center/rear). That is a good starting point with that truggy.

Can anyone confirm which is th best Steering servo for the RTR 8ight T ?
TIA..
I bought the Truggy 3 days ago:second_place:

i use the traxxas 2055 in my truggy.. metal gear and lots of torque.. i see a lot of people race the rtr at my local track and they place well.. it has a lot to do with the driver

I somehow broke or damaged the throttle servo... practicing at the track yesterday ... I ran straight into the the track barrier not very fast at all.. and the throttle servo went DEAD.. the only movement I could get out of it is if I assisted the servo with the throttle on the radio... and I could get it to move... so I moved the steering servo to the the throttle and now need to replace the steering servo...

the people at my local track all replaced the servos..all around it is a great truck

I moved the steering sevro to the throttle position and bought a new digital metal geared servo from Hitec. It retailed at the LHS for $89.99, but he sold it to me for $79.99. I know that there mark up is real high on Hitec stuff, so always ask for a discount. You do not have to buy the $115-$125 servos that they suggest. The one I bought for the steering has 170 in lbs of toque. That is plenty. It has been flawless.
