Okay, a lot of you folks know how fond I am of my old RS4 RTR (fixing to be a Racer 2). I recently upgraded from the original old .15 FE to a .15 SS and in the last two days I've broken both of my original rear dogbones. I'm not sure why this happened. Both of them looked okay, no wear marks or anything. But one at a time, they both broke. And it happened at the far end of the parking lot where I always turn around. I'm not sure if they broke under severe braking or under acceleration. All of a sudden I just noticed that I was only in front wheel drive, revving like crazy and not going anywhere. I've already ordered new universal dogbones from my LHS but I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar occurance.

I went from the 12r in a RS4 3 to a OS .15cv-rx. I was twisting the stock rear center dogbone. I installed HotBodies universals all around and havnt had a problem since.

You sure your cups don't have grooves wore in them? If you've run an engine through the vehicle already and haven't ever replaced the cups, they are probably worn. I know I have that on my savage and had it on my maxx. The bones would be fine, but the cups would/will get terrible grooves worn in and the bones get stuck, then twist, then snap or bend.

You are correct on the savage, on the rear I shredded all 3 diff outdrive cups. On my RS4 the bones actually twisted about an ince in front of the rear diff, plum into on a couple and some just twisted out of round and I caught it before it broke. I always thaught the pins on the end would snap off before you would break the actuall bone? I guess HPI was tring to keep down on rotational mass and used some incompatant bones?

Cups are fine on mine. I checked them when installing all six universals.
