I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get a roto starter with back plate for the os .21 engine? Traxxas back plate will work and I found one of those on ebay but I can't find the wand that goes with it. Will any wand work with any back plate? Like will a hpi wand work with a traxxas back plate etc? I currently have my pull start I am going to put back on the motor but it sure is tough trying to pull start that engine so I was thinking of putting a roto start on it. The pull start was fine on the 3.3 engine but on this BB it's tough to even get it to pull even with the motor heated up with a heat gun.

The Roto back plate for the Savage .25 works. Have to use the HPI OWB, but that is what I am using on my Picco Maxx .26.

As long as it rotates "Counter Clock Wise" yes it will. Yeah I pulled the starter plate off of an old worn out .25 I had laying around and it works great. Much better than the EZ or pull start.

Yea I hate the ez start and pull start wasn't too bad till I put this BB in there and man I'm here to tell you which I'm sure you already know that sucker has got some pop behind it lol. It's a bit much for a pull start for sure.

Neither one say if they will fit a os engine or traxxas engine which is the same bolt pattern. Do you think that they will work?

keep in mind once the engine is broken in and past about tank ten a pullstart is an awesome way to start a nitro engine. as well if you end up using a pullstart during break in, just preheat your engine above 190 degrees (preferably 230) before you start it (especially the first start) and it will pull over relatively easy. i did this for my lrp .28 which is an engine with insane pinch in my t-maxx and it made break super easy. best item to use is a heat gun like for removing decals, but a hair dryer on high will get you most the way there.
good luck.

I have to agree i like pull start alot more than any type of electronic starter. Its one less thing to charge and if your away from your set up and like driving away and something causes you to stall you dont have to walk back to start it. Thats what happens with me is ill get it started and sometimes since its not fully warmed up it will die and then i have to carry it back and its annoying. With my jato and its pull start its like i already have my igniter in my pocket and just start it up.

I agree man pull start is the way to go. Maybe this next motor I get I will use the heat gun. I have never had a BB so I didn't know how long it would be before it eased up a little since i can't really carry a heat gun to a gravel pit to heat the motor up to be able to start it. Maybe i will just keep my pull start I really like it too.

i have used a small propane torch to heat up one of my engines ....worked good ...i would just do small bursts on the block ..making sure the flame doesn't touch anything that could burn ....but i prefer the hair dryer ...its a bit safer ..lol

I agree, I burnt a hole in my fuel tank with a heat gun! That sucked!
