OK, so I'm at work yesterday and I had brought my latest copy of XRC to flip through because the hockey shop is kind of slow right now. It's sitting on my desk as I'm updating a few of the shop's eBay listings when a co-worker walks in, sees it and starts flipping through it. He asks what I have and I tell him. He tells me he has a LST and a Duratrax road car. We get to shooting the bull about them and I tell him that I just raced the first round of the R/C Pro Series and just had a blast (although we did get hit with a huge storm on Saturday night which stretched the first day of qualifiers to 3:00 AM Sunday morning) and that he should break his rigs out and run them, maybe even getting together sometime to bash around or to come racing with me.

As he keeps flipping through it, seeing the ads for the new buggies, truggies and what not, he keeps mentioning that it really had been awhile since he ran his rigs. I then just said, hey, get 'em out! Let's get together, have some fun! He then says that the LST is a mess and thinks the OWB is gone. He keeps telling me his Duratrax has a brand-new Fantom mill with about 1/4 tank through it, but that the front shock tower is busted and he's not sure about breaking it in.

That's when I said, bring them in, I will fix and repair them, get them running and cleaned up, but ONLY if he promises to be my pit bitch one Sunday!

Today, he shows up to work with a crud encrusted LST, the Duratrax (and I'm sorry, the name escapes me, but I wrote it down at work) and a JR TX. All day, he keeps asking if I can really get them running and that he can't wait! He even offered to clock me out later if I wanted to leave early and get to wrenching (I declined, I have some ethics!)

So, right now the LST is on the bench. Pulled the mill (Mach .26) and have been trying like the dickens to get the sleeve out. Got the mill soaking in some parts cleaner hoping that will free it up because hitting it with the heat gun barely got it to budge. Fuel lines are shot and the RX pack needs cycled a time or two. Everything else seems in very good condition, just needs a thorough cleaning and some fresh lube on the bearings, but I don't see any broken parts and the diffs sound super.

Anyhow, I think I've got him hooked again on the hobby! Besides, I love to wrench on rigs, so this works out for me just as well!

great man!! way to help a guy out. now if you can get him on here you will be batting 1000!!

Man, you wouldn't clean my stuff up for me!?!?!?!

Sure I did! I helped pick up that dumpster you call a pit trailer and all the crap Mike just threw on the ground after our mains on Sunday! Add to that I had to withstand all those beer/wing/Chinese food farts you kept throwing after your night out in Clermont County! Hey, I cheered REALLY LOUD during your main, too!

That's what is great about the hobby.

Way to go Monkey. Hope ya get him to stay.

Not to derail the thread... How did you and Jet do last weekend?

Thats what happen to me at school not to long ago when I pretty much resericted his truck from the dead. Then word got out and people I didnt even know started aproching me asking me to fix there crap! Some people. Just dont let it go that far monkey! O and beings you fixed it you now get first run with it:thumbup:!

I'm with you, Monkey-man. I actually enjoy wrenching on my trucks more than driving them.

Way to go Monkey Man! I am glad you were able to help someone out who needed a hand. I hope he gets back into RC and loves it and it will all be because you helped him out. Great story man.

Well, got the LST back up and running! The Mach .26 he had in it was torched, so I'm lending him an older mill I had laying around until he can get a new mill for it. Have to admit, pretty neat truck! Never driven a LST before and although the steering servos seem a bit underpowered, it is a balanced truck and runs great! Dropping it off to him tomorrow and now I need to get to work on his Street Force. This thing is going to need a little more work than I thought, but he's got a good engine on it, just need to get everything around it working right!

Good on you Monkey.....always nice to help a bruther out....and you get a pit bitch....I am with you guys I really enjoy the build and continual wrenching process.....my driving style ONLY produces broken parts so it works out good that way.

Only if my wallet can keep up with me..:help:
