OK, so I'm at work yesterday and I had brought my latest copy of XRC to flip through because the hockey shop is kind of slow right now. It's sitting on my desk as I'm updating a few of the shop's eBay listings when a co-worker walks in, sees it and starts flipping through it. He asks what I have and I tell him. He tells me he has a LST and a Duratrax road car. We get to shooting the bull about them and I tell him that I just raced the first round of the R/C Pro Series and just had a blast (although we did get hit with a huge storm on Saturday night which stretched the first day of qualifiers to 3:00 AM Sunday morning) and that he should break his rigs out and run them, maybe even getting together sometime to bash around or to come racing with me.
As he keeps flipping through it, seeing the ads for the new buggies, truggies and what not, he keeps mentioning that it really had been awhile since he ran his rigs. I then just said, hey, get 'em out! Let's get together, have some fun! He then says that the LST is a mess and thinks the OWB is gone. He keeps telling me his Duratrax has a brand-new Fantom mill with about 1/4 tank through it, but that the front shock tower is busted and he's not sure about breaking it in.
That's when I said, bring them in, I will fix and repair them, get them running and cleaned up, but ONLY if he promises to be my pit bitch one Sunday!
Today, he shows up to work with a crud encrusted LST, the Duratrax (and I'm sorry, the name escapes me, but I wrote it down at work) and a JR TX. All day, he keeps asking if I can really get them running and that he can't wait! He even offered to clock me out later if I wanted to leave early and get to wrenching (I declined, I have some ethics!)
So, right now the LST is on the bench. Pulled the mill (Mach .26) and have been trying like the dickens to get the sleeve out. Got the mill soaking in some parts cleaner hoping that will free it up because hitting it with the heat gun barely got it to budge. Fuel lines are shot and the RX pack needs cycled a time or two. Everything else seems in very good condition, just needs a thorough cleaning and some fresh lube on the bearings, but I don't see any broken parts and the diffs sound super.
Anyhow, I think I've got him hooked again on the hobby! Besides, I love to wrench on rigs, so this works out for me just as well!
