It is most likely due to the diff case flexing and causing the gears to get out of mesh. There are a few choices. One - Learn how to shim the diffs (do a little search and you will find a lot of info), Two - Buy some hardened steel RRP diff gears (you still need to shim those, but they last a bit longer), and Three - Upgrade to a set of 1/8th scale diffs and never worry about breaking them again, as long as you maintain them.

You could always not brake hard?

Shimming them properly while using plastic diff cases will help, but shimming them and using aluminum cases will help longer. The aluminum cases don't flex like the stock plastic ones do.

Also, check your bearings. If your pinion bearings or output shaft bearings are loose, then it will allow the alignment to be off between the ring/pinion.

Bearings are important, mine I check pretty regularly because they take alot of stress and this causes problems in other areas.
