My question to all of you maxx owners is do you run your Ring and pinion gears with or with out some kind of lube and if you run with lube what kind do you use? I use spools front and rear in my E Maxx and just stripped my ring gear and so when I put it back together I wanted to know with or with out lube?

Any kind of bearing grease will do. Always lube the ring and pinion. Motorcycle chain lube works well here too, as it does not fling off. I have had really good results using Honda motorcycle O-ring chain lube on my ring and pinions. Traxxas sells a small tube of grease specifically for this application.

Graphite powder works for me on my RC18t. It's dry and doesn't attract dirt, plus it sticks to anything.

I've used white lightning. It's for bicycle chains. It's a wax based lube that when it dries, it doesn't attract dirt. It also does a really good job. It was pricey, but I've used the same bottle for 2 or 3 years. I use it on cv-joints, spur/cb, diff ring/pinion and I really noticed my wear becoming much less.

It's funny how when you don't have dirt in your cvd's all the time, they actually last longer!

Guess I should have bought online... I paid $15 for that same bottle locally at a bicycle shop.

I believe they only make 1 synthetic grease but it comes a variety of packages. They are listed on the website page I linked to.

The one I have the 3oz tube item# 21030

I have been using Gorilla Snawt. I believe its fully synthetic. Its probably more of a marketing gimick but it goes well with the Monkey Snot I use for after run oil. I am a big fan of fully synthetic lubricants.190,000 miles on the V8 in the wifes Jeep and its still purring like a kitten.I changed the oil and filter every 10,000 miles religiously.
