Cool,

I just picked up a Savage .17, I am hoping the weather holds till I can hit the range. I wont be hunting just being a paper sniper.

So far, it seems everyone (myself included, now) says this is a very accurate, flat shooting round. I saw the best performance with the 20gr XTP cartridges.

Okay So I got this rifle and just like my REvo I had to upgrade.
Here are some pics, .21Rc10GT you got any yet.

at 100yds I can hit quarters and I am itching to hit 200yrds.

She is a Savage Model 93 .17HMR, with heavy barrel, Bushnell 4X-12X,40 and a Rock Mount Bipod.

What do you guys think?

Man, I really, really need a bipod!!! I have a Marlin 917v and a Marlin 983vs. Both are fun, but I move too much to hit anything at 100yds, even with sandbags... I think I may try a bipod before I attempt these squirrels out here...

Looks like a fine weapon...The "bull" barrel is an excellent addition into making an accurate shooting rifle...have fun with it!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my 10/22 I can hit shotgun shells at 100 yards no problem. It uses 22 ammo, not 17 hmr stuff either

A rimfire rifle has a cartridge that has a "charge" loaded in the rim(bottom) of the shell. This is different from a "centerfire" rifle that has an actual primer in the middle if the shell base. Rimfires are cheaper to manufacture and therefore cheaper to buy and shoot with. They are awsome for plinking. Anyway, thats just one difference. Picture the below as perfect circles....

I hope this helps.....

Ah, got it! Thanks!

Nice looking guns.

I have got to do another 1022. Didn't put much in the first one.
Stock and barrel combo from Hornet, barrel was still a Ruger. Polished the trigger myself. Been in that twice. It's a lot better, but I'll be back in it again. Messed with the bolt a little too.

Not a good pic, but here's mine. My little Buckmark too. Got a scope on the 1022 now. Bipod before long.
Pistol is still iron sites. Started to scope it once, just couldn't bring myself to do it. Maybe the next one.

I like the color of the wood. Polishing the end of the bolt will help big time. If you need some guidance let me know. I did all the work on mine.

I'll tell ya .21rc10GT Bipods are awsome, I saw my groupings close up instantly.

VB that is a very nice rifle, is that a Boyd Stock.

Very nice digger.

VB, did all the work on mine. First time I have did anything like that. Never even shot it before I started tinkering with it. Not that good but I'm learning. Can buy parts about anywhere, so if I screw it up....
That was the reason I got one. Just so much stuff out there. Next one will have a bull barrel and a thumbhole stock.

Been getting all my info from rimfire.com. Did this to my bolt. http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=15547 Is that what you are talking about? I shot a friend's gun and could tell the difference.

Yes thats what I did. One thing I highly reccomend would be a composit bolt stop pin. It quiets the gun big time and reduces wear and tear.

Did you jb weld the sear trick? It reduces creep in the trigger pull. This is another pretty easy one to do.

Started to ask about that. Second time I worked on the trigger it seemed to help a little. Thought about trying the JB weld. Now I'm reading that part of the guys are having trouble. JB weld not holding. I'm guessing they are not cleaning the trigger group up enough? Maybe a little oil residue on it?

So far I have did the bolt release, polished the trigger, chamfered the bolt, and put a bolt buffer in it. Have a cheap Bushell scope on it.
The barrel isn't bedded. Sanded the stock enough to float it. If I get serious with my shooting, do I need it?
Right now it's just something for me and the 'ol lady to go out and have a little fun with. It's fun to watch her. Got the 25 round clips. She shoots 5 or 6 rounds real slow. Then she just lets it rip. Keeps me busy loading clips. Got a speedloader and it helps a lot.
I want a bipod, but not sure. Just think its going to look like crap on that stock.

Wanting to build another...

If you get serious about shooting bedding will help. i't won't make you shoot better ;) but it will be more consistant. We cleaned our sears before adding the jb weld, and it hasn't come off yet.

I also tried the adjustable trigger/sear combo. And I didn't have the best of luck with it. I had a trigger that was crispier then ed's eyebrows, but it was unsafe! It would double/tripple fire and would not hold up to the bump test. I nixed that idea and did the jb weld.

It would generally be a good idea if the riffle only fired when someone pulled the trigger.

Well, went to the range today with the .22mag and .17hmr. Did ok. Just got some bipods and am trying to get used to them. The groups were acceptable for me, but not the best.

Also walked into the gun shop last night and found the Ruger 10/22 I have been looking for for a while. Was too late to buy it last night, but I was there when they opened and bought it. Now, another 10 days to wait... I need a gun safe before another gun now! The room under my bed is getting cramped!

No wait here. That is if you can get through the Federal check. Had a Smith .40 in my hand a while back. All the paperwork filled out. And they were jammed up and couldn't get through.

Supposed to be getting another 1022 myself. Guy at work wanting to sell his. Stock carbine for $100. Going to put it back for another build. I love tinkering with them.
Good luck with yours.
