I just ordered the HPI ribbed pipe for my Savage X without doing any homework on it. I am afraid that I will be disappointed with it after looking at other options. Does anyone have any experience with this pipe? Good or Bad?

I have it and it is an awesome.

Loud as hell. The only drawback to this is that it is not a one piece pipe.

I have the ribbed pipe on my Savage SS, I like it a lot, it makes great low end power, I have been very happy with mine. But as Jon mentioned, it is quite loud.

I ran it on my SS and liked it as well. As mentioned it's loud, but I like it that way.

I like the HPI tuned polished pipe better. Quieter, better powerband. Power is spread wider from 1/4-2/3 throttle instead of 0-1/2 throttle.

What does that mean? (I'm not being sarcastic... I really don't know!)

Thanks for the info and the link. It was an impulse buy that I hope I will be happy with. The noise is kind of a down side but then again why have a Savy if noone else can hear it.

In reality that sucks since this hobby is dominated by males. Ben it can be ribbed for your comfort though?!

I run the ribbed with my WASP .26 in my Savage and it does great...MY truck has tons of torque and really good topend speed. I dont think it was a bad investement for you...Beats the hell out of plastic pipes thats for sure.

Heh, I've been researching Savages a bit now as I'm thinking of getting one (but expect a new thread on this once I'm ready) and came across the multicolored, ribbed pipes yesterday...of course, the first thing that flashed across my mind (which was in the gutter at the time I guess) was exactly that heh!

Seriously though, heh :p

I have the purple ribbed pipe on my savage and love it. Its noisy and seem to add more tourqe. The other good thing was I swapped motors to a big block .32 and only had to do minimal tunning. It runs great on that motor also.

I don't know about the performance aspect of the pipe. But I can almost guarantee it's the loudest.

I tried the Composite pipe, the ripple pipe, and I tried an OS pipe( hard to make work) The Ripple pipe is the LOUDEST pipe for the Savage! I pissed off all my neighbors when I ran the savage. I love the pipe but I put on a one piece on it. I have yet to try it but it is secure being a one piece. If you live in an area that you can run it w/o pissing people off than keep it. Or keep it and piss off all the neighbors. With the 3 speed it is even louder when it kicks in 3rd gear.

Have you guys tried the jp1 pipe? For the price is a great low end pipe! and its not that loud.
