Hello everyone today i recently got a Revo 3.3 5309 model. I had bought the car used off of craigslist and tested it out fully before i bought it. Today when i got home and go to start it, As soon as i start it the engine is in WOT and have to cut it off because i cannot control it, is there something that i am missing here?

Make sure your transmitter is properly moving the servos before starting the engine. ALWAYS.
If not, check the batteries and the connections.

Yea i made sure everything was working, is there any other thing to check out?

Hmm its open a little bit to where its at, its just weird, could it be a low battery problem?

Not very sure if it would help much, but should i make a video of what is going on when i try and start it? Also during driving it upon purchase i noticed that whenever i gave it gas for some reason after i let go it would continue going for a brief second and then stop, not turn off but back to idle position, could this tie in with eachother?

videos always help. Sound especially. If it lingers before it goes down to idle, it could very well be an air leak.
In the link I gave you there's a post about proper sealing of the engine.

Yea i looked briefly through it, you have some really great information there for all users of this site. Another question that i had is, going from a t-maxx 2.5 to a revo 3.3, is there supposed to be any lag between the radio and the reciever on the truck like i was mentioning above earlier?

No. Any lag time would be caused by low batteries. Are you running 4 aa batteries? If so, a 5 cell hump pack should be the first thing you pick up. They provide more current than alkalines, which means way better performance. A rechargeable pack would wake your servos right up.:) Remember, there's a difference in the lag time I'm talking about, and the engine rpm's hanging after you let off the throttle, which Rolex commented on. Once your sure the radio gear is working up to it's potential, then it's time to get the engine running properly.

I can attest to the 5cell pack. I put one in my slayer and it is almost uncontrollable with the response from the servos

Also make sure which pack you need. I have the revo electronics boxes and it won't take a hump pack, you have to use a flat pack

Hey everyone thanks for the answers, and i beleive i am using the stock battery pack that comes with the truck.

Today i went to the hobby store, to get it checked out, as i was there i had it looked at by a technician that works there, he looked at it and told me it was the throttle servo that was getting stuck, he fixed it and i went home to try it out. After starting it when i was at home it started sticking again. Is this the optidrive that is doing this?

I would consider getting a new servo and checking the manual for how to setup the throttle CORRECTLY. The manual can be found here....http://www.traxxas.com/products

Okay cool,I've been reading alot of people have this problem with the revo 3.3, should you suggest i need a new throttle servo, the guy told me to clean out my carb, but that just seems like to much work for such a little problem? And am i the only one who thinks that they put the spur gear to close to the air filter lol?
