I have stripped three spur gears in two days with a 2.5 chassis but a 3.3 motor installed. SHould i just go ahead and buy a steel spur gear? What else can i do to prevent this?

If you dont mesh your clutchbell and your spurgear properly it will most-likely get stripped.

Do you have the extra engine plate that they offer with the 3.3 revo?

Might help a bit.

Take the engine mount off the truck and clean with DA and rough up the spots with sandpaper where they contact to make for stronger binding strength when you tighten down the engine mount screws. You have to keep those screws really tight.

If you wreck and land on your roof, the 3.3 is so tall that it makes contact with the ground. With the way traxxas designed the engine mount, it moves almost regardless what you do in that instance.

Mine would move on me when making a jump with 8+ feet of air under it. Part of the reason I got rid of the thing... got tired of dealing with the little annoyances on an otherwise really well built truck.

I never really thought about it... but I should have drilled things out and re-tapped for 4mm bolts. That would definitely hold better if it's doable.
