looking for a new toy...is the revo 3.3 as insane as some of the video's I've been seeing.....
 
If your into monster trucks, yes they are kind of insane.
 
no I've had a couple before and still have a couple just looking for something new....Revo,Lst,t-maxx.....not sure what to get

No interest in the MGT?
I've had the Savage, t-maxx, revo (2.5) and an MGT.
I like the MGT the best.
Never owned an LST, but I've driven a few. I didn't like it much, and my friends that do have them have had tranny problems (not transvestites).
 
I wouldn't say it's insane but it's very fast and handles great for an MT. With the extended chassis it's not a wheelie monster, at least not for me.
 
I just watched a couple of movies on the Revo and T-maxx and they were doing wheelies across the parking lot....it looked insane, I read some of your posts SMAXXIN, how is new Revo?????
 
I'd avoid the maxx again... (saw it in your list of "new")

The revo in general is a good rig. Fairly tough, agile, pretty quick and upgrades are all over. Although, you don't need a lot to make it durable. I have the 2.5 chassis with an OS 18TM and it's uncontrolable. if the 3.3 chassis ever comes down in price on ebay, I'll get one.

Just curious Ratso, what makes you like the MGT over the revo?
 
RPM Arms, RPM axle carriers and aluminum shock ends.

Well, and the electronics... RTR electronics almost always suck anyway and I wanted to use the same radio for all my trucks.
 
that os18tm is that good???? I've reading reading up on that 3.3 looks fast...have you seen one run or run against one....and why stay away from the t-maxx
 
the tmaxx handling does not even compare to the revo. i have t-maxx 3.3 and revo 3.3. idont even drive the maxx anymore. the revo will pull wheelies as you want if u have it tuned right. i tell anyone who gets one to get the revo over the maxx. t-maxx just seems to roll alot more. plus if you want to upgrade the shocks theres 8 of them instead of 4. u dont even have to upgrade suspension on the revo unless your a professional.

just my opinion from owning both
 
I have the 3.3 in my 2.5 chassis and my brother has the 18tm in his....he takes me outta the hole, but i take him on the top end...

I run panther pythons on hurricane revo wheels and he runs 40 series bowties on wabash wheels ....everything else is identical...

I haven't seen a 3.3 in person run. Just vids.

According to Xtreme RC mag and their dyno, the OS is a bit weaker than the 3.3, but it doesn't have the massive drop off once it peaks like the 3.3 does. However, the 3.3 is cheaper... considerably. If I had waited a month or so, I probably would have tried the 3.3 first just for monetary reasons.

OS engines have treated me well over the past 6 years. TRX engines have not. Granted, the only two TRX engines I've had was the 2.5 in the maxx and the 2.5R in the revo. The one in the maxx was flat out junk. The one in the revo just annoyed me a lot. Air leaks, unable to get a stable tune for more than a tank at a time, burning up plugs, running hot... just to aggravating for a "fun" weekend hobby.

The OS on the other hand... holds a tune all day long, way more power than I can personally handle, starts easy, runs cool and sounds mean. Even with the stock pipe, it has a throatier exhaust note to it. To make it controllable, I actually dialed the throttle to about 75% being the max.

As for the t-maxx comment, to each his own. I had it, hated it, replaced it with a savage and was totally content for the past 2 years. I got the revo in November and it's been a blast. I haven't really driven the savage since I got it and I actually sold my buggy. It was never going to get driven with all the fun I have with the revo and savage.

That is no lie.

I used to have to tune my 2.5r two or three times while bashing in the same day. It was at the point where I had to carry the temp gun w/screw driver in one hand and the TX in the other while I drove my Revo. I installed an OS .18TM and that was the end of of it. I tuned my truck a few weeks ago and it's still holding a damn good tune unlike my old 2.5r did.
