My bro has a Revo 3.3 & he's just bought a Picco .26 Max for it.

The engine is great, but there is very little adjustment on the mount to get the correct gear mesh. Also when you do get it meshed right it eats spur gears.

The engine is too powerful at the bottom end with the standard gearing so i was wondering if anyone had any advice for better gearing, also would it be better to use a steel spur gear?

All help appreciated.

A steel spur will eventually blow out the transmission unless you replace the gears in it with steel also. The gear mesh may be too tight, you can eat spur gears either way, too loose or too tight. The spur should spin freely in the clockwise direction (when looking at it from the rear) when you give it a spin with your finger. If it doesn't, it's too tight. I usually pull the motor up snug to the spur by hand and slowly remove pressure until the spur spins freely.

+1 when its up tight and you spin the spur you will feel the drag, as you slowly back off you will notice it spins free thats where you want it. in the spot where free but any tighter you feel drag.

Yea if its eating spurs something is wrong.I think you can use a 16/36 .I believe I have a 16/38 on now.The wide ratio gear set for the trans would be best for the Picco also.I have the close in there and 1st gear is useless. Its shifts instantly and hauls ass outathere:D.The wide ratio will have the same 1st but the 2nd gear is taller and this will help.

There is enough room to add some spacers between the tranny and the chassis to allow for larger combos.

It will eat transmissions if you don't do the all metal/steel gear upgarade but...

You got alot of low end then you can use this my friend! Its a 34T steel spur gear AND it has a smaller diameter so you may have enough more room to get the Spur/Clutch bell adjustment correct. Check with your LHS they might have one in the back lol
