I know... I know... why would I ask. I've only been doing this for 5 years...

Being the procrastinator that I am, I haven't picked up a FOC yet. I had reverse blow out on me today and I wasn't even using it. I was sitting at idle, not rolling, threw it into reverse, grinding noise insued. So, I through it back in forward and ran about 8 tanks through it... knowing full well that I'm probalbly tearing up the trans with bits of my reverse gear.

Tore it apart, there's 3 teeth missing on the reverse gear, all other gears look fine. I checked tower to get a part number for a local LHS to see if they have it and noticed that it comes with two forward gears... I don't understand why? Is it one and a backup or are both actually used somehow?

I'll figure out the answer this week hopefully when/if I get the FOC. But I was just curious.

They are both used. You'll replace the two gears that are in there now. For starters they are beefier gears. Also you should be ok, but when you get your FOC check the traxxas Revo Resources to make sure you have the right directions. Some of the older kits had the wrong directions in them and they weren't real clear.

I couldn't find anything about the FOC at traxxas... I looked and tried using their search, but it sucks.

I guess I don't understand how it goes together... There were two gears on the main output shaft already. I only see one contact gear that would run one of those gears for forward from the two speed assembly. Or, is the second gear a replacement for one on the two speed assembly as well?

Scratch that... found it in the "revo resources" section... It would be nice if they stored all documentation for any one vehicle in the same place...

Now it makes sense. That's retarded... I looked for half an hour all over traxxas's website before starting this thread and I couldn't find this.

Ditto

On the instructions I got, it doesn't tell you what to do with that extra gear but it does show you replacing it with another gear on one of the pictures.

If RCNT doesn't mind, here is a link from another RC forum that has picture by picture how to do the FOC on a Revo.

Yeah Traxxas revamped their website recently and made things a little more difficult to find. But don't say anything on thier forum or the Nazi mods over there will slap you with some points. Mis is a bitch!
