if part number is the only difference then why does the erevo diff cost so much more?

The brushless has more torque out of the box than the nitro and it starts at 0 rpm. This harder on the diff and requires a bit more strength, hence the higher price.

Not different, one just built better than the other, both should work in either Nitro Revo or E-Revo

i dont understand how one is better than the other when it seems they are both built out of the same material. are they different grades or steel?

yes if you research them, you will most likley see the difference in the metal they are made of

No, they are not made from different materials, they are made differently.

The Erevo diff cup is designed to use 2 steel side plates fitted to the cup that supports the spider gear pin to help keep the spider pin from spinning inside the plastic cup. The spider pin also goes through an I-bean support bar that is fitted to the inside of the cup that helps stiffen the cup to keep it from distorting and causing stripped ring/pinion gears.
The BL e-revo and BL e-maxx use the same internal gears with the pin supports and stiffner and are a much stronger diff than the old type diffs.

so which is it?:\

Which is it? its both...

The part numbers I listed are for the Erevo diff and is what makes them different than a standard revo diff.

1 part# is the diff cup and side plates, the other part# is the I-beam and spiders.
