Have a nitro sport now and am looking to upgrade to a monster truck. Have been looking at the Revo for a long time but my friend has a Savage that is bigger. Want to here thoughts on what others think. Thanks for the info.

dont know for sure but i think the revo is faster..... the savage has a bigger motor and all but it weighs more... i dont know what the adjust-ability is on the savage but i know on the revo you can change everything.....

The XL is a great truck and its been very good to me. I will say that both engines that the trucks come with have 2 flaws out of the box. On the revo the conrod of the 3.3 is known to be a weak spot and the 5.9 has a spotty track record to say the least. Also with the XL you get a two year warrenty on the engine.

Savage would be my pick. Especially if you're gonna be doing alot of jumping....Savage is tougher than the Revo. I think the revo is a little bit faster out of the box but thats probably the only thing it has on the savage.

I don't really agree with this. However, I have never owned a Savage. But the tune-ability of the Revo is surreal. To me, best bang for the buck is the Revo.

Ok the revo might be more tunable but what I was getting at is the Savage is the better basher. Neither one of us are truely qualified to answer this question though seeing as how youve never owned a savage and I've never owned a revo. Really need some input from folks that have owned both.

What do you mean pain to tune? Are you having troubles with your settings staying set and working?

Also thank you to everyone for the advise and tips.

I own two Revos and 3 nitro Savages, 2 Flux, one HP and one XS. The Savage is a VERY tough brutal workhorse. They are hard to break and will bounce off or break about anything the hit. The Revo will out handle a Savage any time any place really. They are a well though out machine.....BUT they are not as tough and have more weak spots. The chassis tends to get bent, A-arms are weaker and not as many pretty bling hop-ups for the Revo. Now with that being said...the Revo is a blast to drive. They are still very tough considering and pretty quick. Which is BETTER? That is a very subjective question....they are BOTH better at something....Savage HEAVY basher and cool parts IE engines clutches shiney parts... hands down winner. The Revo is a MUCH better racer and light basher and over all a decent truck. Your decision shopuld be aplication based rather than a Chevy Vs. Ford style battle.

+1000^ It's all in what you want or need. The revo will out-run and out-handle just about any monster truck on the track, but the savage is built tougher.
I have 4 revos, but have only driven a savage twice.

Revo is flat out awesome. The thing is easy to tune very very versatile and is tougher than a lot of people give it credit for and the engineering behind it is second to none. Havent driven a savage but i hear they are ridiculous tough and can handle anything you throw at it. However, i hear they dont handle very well. The savage is a beast but i opted for more versatility with the revo. I can beat the snot out of it ripping around or i put it on the track and dominate.

If your looking for something to bash with get a savage theyre tougher. Handling isnt really an issue when your bashing. It handles good enough. If your wanting to race and something that handles better that you are just gonna occassionally bash with then get a truggy. The issue of the Revo handling better is a moot point IMO because no one races em anymore anyway. If you want a good handling MT get a XXL and put either 17MM or 23mm hexes on it (alot more wheel and tire choices with those sizes as opposed to the stock 20mm that come on it.), a sway bar kit, and a wing and play with that. Thatall just my personal opinion. I've never owned a Revo but thats because I feel there are better options available depending on what your ultimate goal is. That being said There nothing wrong with a Revo if thats what you really want. Just make sure you have fun with whatever you decide to get....thats Rule #1 :)

I have owned both the Revo and 2 Savages. Now I just own the Savage. The kid who bought my Revo sold it and bought one of my Savages. I just had more fun out of the Savage it would take anything I could put it through and except for the occasional spur gear and routine maintenance I didn't have to do much to keep it running. Both trucks have their faults. The Revo is designed as more of a racer than basher. The savage is more of a just a brute. No it doesn't handle as well as the Revo but it will more than likely give you more driving time then wrench time. I prefer to drive so I went with the Savage.

That last one is pretty obvious, because the revo actually handles like a dream compared to the savage. I also realize handling is not so important for a basher, but it sure is nice!

That's my opinion. I own 4 revos, no savages, but I have driven a savage.

Great choice and either way you could not go wrong. Just follow the break in procedures and you'll be fine. You also might want to get a temp gun and some spare glow plugs.

Either way you cut it no one would be disappointed with either kit. One has durability the other has handling.....pick one go forth and have fun.
