All of mine I've had to literally bring back from the dead, probably why they look like Frankenstein walking going down the burm, can't hit the street lol
My current Optima Mid project started as a badly beaten ebay auction win. It was ROUGH!
Almost done now, she's a brand new buggy (still a few original parts) 😎

Sounds like you have a battle but a fun battle!!!
I love restoring them. I love working on them. I love the results!
Saving a fun machine from getting scrapped is pretty rewarding too!
I think thats why I love older RC so much. The 'before and after' is great!
Its fun to run these old cars. I used to love them all. It will be fun to see how they run with new tech too.
I ran my Revo a LOT! I loved it! Big old nitro monster ripping over pretty much everything!
The Jato was fast! Too fast! 🤣
I think its a great truck but it needs a big open field or a drag strip to run on.

I have both trucks still but both need love and have been 'put away' until pretty recently.
Hopefully I'll get them running soon too. 🤞

I have an MP6 Inferno and a Kyosho Mint Las Vegas to restore. I also bought a Kyosho Peugeot 405 4x4 rally recently.

The 1st 2 sort of found me but the Peugeot was one I wanted as part of the same era as the Optima.

The nitro bug came and bit me and I didn't even notice til it was too late! 🤣

Is your Jato a 2wd or 4x4? Wish mine was the 4x4, love my mudders, what wheels and tires you running on your Revo? I picked up a set off ebay, the treadmill is decent, I want to go bigger,
I switched out the rears on the Rustler to some smaller mud slingers I got for the Revo, made it look like wannabe pansy low rider lol. I have to say the Rustler gearbox DID NOT I REPEAT DID NOT like these tires 😒, I haven't looked at the spur gear, I'm pretty sure it's a toothless wonder right now lol.

If it's the rustler 2wd there are options.

First off id go 32p spurs. Get a 32p robinson racing hardened pinion gear. For the spur, a traxxas jato or revo spur. As long as it's flat and has the 3 hole for the 3 screws into the clutch housing (assuming it's the new style slipper).

For the tranny gears, Robinson racing makes and idler. Other companies do the diff and top gear.

The slash 4x4 spur with most of the center gone will not work.

I switched out the worn down slicks that I believe might of had tread on them at one time long long ago, put on a new set of anacondas, I swear it was doing better in the mud then my Revo ever did, put the big tires on and it couldn't make it across a flat section of dry grass. Definitely going back to them

My Jato is 3.3 2speed, 2wd on Annacondas.
Revo is stock too.
I bought them new and ran them like that more or less without issues.
Those Snake tires are some bad ass rubber.
I'll get pics uploaded here in the next couple of days once they're back together.
I believe I've got everything I need for the Revo, waiting to hear back from this dude overseas about a aftermarket connecting rod for the 3.3 Jato engine

If you can find them...... davis diesel conrods. He died and stock went. If you can find his 3.3 conrod, he had alot of positive sayings on it.

So my spur gear wasn't stripped, I've got the 31/76 setup, with a 2S 7.4v 5200mah 50c battery. Anyone idea where that puts it's top speed at? This combination isn't listed in the owner's manual

Also out the front. How short are your wires? Can you rotate the receiver or fit it forward more somehow?

Its about time to clean the dust off this thing and install the transmission! 🤔
My omni drive doesn't work with the newer TQI, so everything goes directly to the receiver, I'm considering new servos and maybe switching to a single servo setup for the steering

My steering wires direct, servo to receiver too. This one is before TQI stuff. I don't remember much about modding these. Mine are both stock but I had plans to upgrade the radio. I read up about failsafes but forgot how to failsafe the info. 🤣
I have a complete stock trans to reinstall and a junk trans to either fix or FOC. The stock omnidrive stuff won't work after that anyway.🤷‍♀️
Reverse is handy for my 'drive by feel' driving techniques. 😉

Personally, I’d do away with the Omni drive. And FOC the tranny. To me it’s a problem solved by eliminating the potential. But, that’s just me.

I’d do away with the two steering servos too. I use the 400 series Traxxas in my revo as a single servo. And, it works great. There are cheaper options though that’d work just fine.

I’ve been through my revo from top to bottom and back to front. It’s as reliable as the sun coming up. Hopefully this helps you out.

I see the problem and it's all Traxxas fault on this one. I even reached out to their techs and the didn't see it. Should of caught this one earlier, I'm was correct which way my servos were installed, y'all are right when you said they were backwards. I aks why sell the way longer links instead of just telling the mounting orientation changed with the new models and longer chassis?

NEVER underestimate a companies willingness to sell you 'upgrades'!!! 🤣
Once you think you have the ULTIMATE car built and no one could EVER top your car, the manufacturer will release a new one with your favorite colors or an extended chassis... ALWAYS something!
Look at a Slash and how many times that chassis has been resold!

I think the 3.3 set up comes down to better or at least different geometry for the servos.

There were no OMFG servos that could lift a 1:1 car with the torque when these trucks were designed. Dual servos set up was likely the best way to keep these monster tires turning for long term.

A single servo may very well be the best option for you now.

I am pretty sure that even pushing against both of my stock servos, a Reefs 500 would easily rip the gears out of them both and continue function flawlessly.

Why even make the longer links in the 1st place? Hey customers if you swap to this part, you need to flip those parts. Problem solved. Lol

Well I finally got my steering links adjusted, 62.08 looks good. It's hard to capture everything in one picture and still get a close up of the links. Going by their manual, got a 7 degree off set on the one servo horn, 90° on the other. Got a little wiring clean up to do and let's go bashing. Lol
