Reverse

Hi all,

As the last rc car I built and ran was a Tamyia Hot Shot II I am pretty much a born again virgin so I was wondering if you guys could give me some assistance.

What I'm after is an off-road nitro vehicle with reverse but not as expensive as the HPI savage as I only want it for a bit of fun.

The other important factor is I want it in 'KIT' form.

I can't beleive all these cars that are 'RTR' It's mad!

When I was last into RC there was no such thing unless it was a cheap crappy make.

I'm easy on the 2 or 4 wheel drive.

300 British Pound = 486.300 US Dollar, you could get a savage for that, a T-Maxx and a wide assortment of good RC vehicles.

At this point, I don't know if there is a Kit in an off road with reverse. That does seem a bit strange. The only one I know of that is even coming out with a kit version is the Savage, and my guess is that it will cost more than the current Savage with the upgrades it has.

Kit savage lists for $389 with some really nice upgrades. You would need a radio with the kit though. No reverse though. But it's the only moster truck kit I've heard of.

RTR just means that you won't have to put it together the first time. Trust me, you'll be taking it apart, reassembling it, taking it apart, and so on.

The only downside to having it come assembled is that you pretty much take a chance on the skills of the guy that put it together the first time. The guy that assembled my new Savage put way too much torque on the tranny case screws, and basicly stripped them. Due to the design, it wasn't critical, but it did piss me off a bit.

As for which one to get, if you go the traxxas route, don't skimp and get the sportmaxx, it's almost as much as the T-Maxx. And if you decide to upgrade it to a T, you'll end up spending more that if you get a T the first time. The Sportmaxx doesn't have reverse, but neither does the savage. Though the reverse module for the savage isn't that much. If you really want the Savage, I'd wait for the SS kit, and it isn't that much more than the standard RTR savage. But it doesn't come with a radio. The stock Savage does need upgrade parts if you race or bash, namely all the dogbones, but otherwise it's about the toughest truck out there.

That SUCKS! I only got my Savage a couple months ago and replaced the radio setup anyway. Now they come out with a kit that has a lot of the upgrades and it is less exspensive.
Oh well, that's the story of my life

yea there are lots of people that are upset about this. I know that ill be getting one, hopefully they dont come out with a even better version lol.

Look at the negtive if you want. No matter what product you are dealing with they are working on the next level as they are selling you the present version. Take a computer store, as you are walking out with the best computer money can buy they are bringing in the next computer better than the one you bought. It's a fact of life. Deal with it.

Oh yeah, look at the time I just finished the .21 conversion on my T-Maxx and the weekend after I had her broken in my T-Maxx gets run over by a BMW. Now I have to buy another .21 conversion kit since the chassis plate, chassis braces, pipe, shocks, shock tower, a-arms, etc were destroyed by the BMW. I still had a grin on my face until I talked to the butt-munch in the BMW. My grin returned when I started re-building my T-Maxx.
