is it possible to make a reverse module for my hpi nitro rs4 mt or do they actually sell them

Unfortunately, as far as I know, they don't make one. And short of trying to graft a tranny from Savage, T-Maxx or some other reversing truck, I'm not sure it could be made easily. If you have a shop full of milling tools, it might be possible...

so what exactly is in a reverse module the lets these trucks reverse

it's a barrel inside the tranny that uses yet another clutch engagement...you slide the barrel over one or the other clutch via the 3rd servo....WHY would you want to take a truck meant for racing and destroy it w/ a reverse module?.....I know it would be handy instead of carting yourself across a field to get it unstuck....but it's just not practical on an ST....look at what you have in front of you, a very light simplified RC.....adding weight and mechanical parts is just a huge waste of that truck....if you want reverse buy an MT and beat the snot out of it......

I'm sure with a t-maxx tranny off ebay and some creative bracing, you could probably do it... I'm not sure how stable and durable it would be though...
wouldnt i need a 3 channel radio also?

You would need a 3 channel radio/receiver for the 3rd servo.
