lets say you are out bashing one afternoon. doing high speed runs, hittin jumps on a 1 1/2 foot dirt mound. you get ur maxx up to speed, you hit the jump. maxx is about 3 ft in the air. this is the sweetest jump of the day. the landing goes wrong, lands on its back. you run over, flip the maxx over and everything looks fine til you take the lid off. come to find out you've cracked the tank and bent a turnbuckle. the worst part is you've bent the fins on your sirio, and when you take closer look they are actually cracked. Now my question is do I replace the head or can I bend them back. If I bend them back will this effect the performance?

overall it was a great day.

You may want to take it off to see if there is any damage to the screws. Head could have moved and bent them a little.

Other than that, it depends on how bad the cracks are. If the whole head is cracked, you may want to replace it. If it is just a couple of fins, I have seen people run with parts of fins missing with no problems. Bend them back and check the temps to make sure you are not overheating.

you came out lucky i sapped 2 fins off but havent got to use it since so i dont know how it will effect it oh and this is on the 2.5 mill

You might want to switch to crazy nuts or nova heads. They have a life time replacement on all of their heads. I personally like the Nova heads, they are really large, and cool the engine off really well. Regarding your question on whether you should bend them back or not?? I suggest not, due to the fact they are cracked. Once a head is cracked, I render it useless!! I know more money out of your pocket. Again go with them manufactures that have lifetime replacements!! Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm a noob, can you give me some links to find these parts. I only know of tower and new era.

You dont have to replace the head if everything is still there. However, you need to check the head bolts like robmob said. As long as the head you have continues to provide the cooling properties you need, I see no reason to replace it now except for looks. Keep an eye on your temps.

As for bending them back, no. If they have surface cracks you run a chance of snapping them right off if you try to bend them back. A lot of the heads out there are cast and snap a lot easier than a machined head.

As for Nova or CrazyNut heads, if you got the cash and just want to upgrade the one you have, then by all means go for it! They are both great names in the biz.

i was able to bend them back and they did not break. My maxx is running again and the temp is pretty consistant. However I did order the nova head. After tearing down my maxx I found a few more damaged things. I twisted the rear axles. I am waiting for my lhs to get their next shipment of MIP, so I can change those. My g/f ordered a roll cage for me from rc-solutions. Thanks for all the input .
