When I decided to go racing, I aquired the truck setup I had through trade. The truck has an old o.s. cz in it, that appears to still be in pretty good shape. However, I have noticed it is starting to be more and more tempermental. Either being the old quirky carb, or the motor loading up for no apparant reason. It's always something. I also was giving with the trade an o.s. cv, minus backing plate and carb. I'm not sure of the condition of this mill either, since I've never sealed it up to check compression. Both mills have odonnel heads, and appear to be taken care of.

So I'm faced with the delimma. I'm going to need to spend roughly 50 bucks for a nice new 10e carb, new engine bearings, backing plate, and piston/sleave to have atleast one mill in nice running condition.

However, a new o.s. .12 cv-r can be had for just a smidge over 100 bucks. And the new Tr can be had for around 130. Wouldn't I just be better off, selling these two engines for cheap, and then buying a pair of the newer o.s's or mugens to go racing with?

Tell me your thoughts?

You should get two new OS .12 TRs.Great racing motors.Very easy to tune.

I agree with ya. Or maybe one of those, and try the mugen out for back up? I think I've pretty much made up my mind. I want new stuff. Now to just decide on the mill.

In 10 minutes? That was pretty good!

I'd say go with the new mills. No point in bothering with old engines that you don't now how they were taken care of. It would be sad to throw the Odennel heads out. It may not be a bad idea to buy new engines to use your old heads. At least if you were happy with the power the old engines gave you.

the old engines made plenty of power for racing. In fact the cz is still making good power. Will see if I can get a decent amount for em, I'll let them go. If they stay around, then I'll just maybe buy one new one and go from there.

it's not roar legal though. gotta have a .12

I may get a .15 cv-r to go oval racing though at some point.
