I just got a new to me scx10 and I would prefer it to be slower for crawling. What do I need to get to slow it down some? A different spur gear/transmission gear? Or is regearing done in the axles? Thanks......

What turn motor do you have?

As far as I know its the axial motor that came with the truck from thr factory.

Ok that should be a 27t motor, which is pretty fast for a crawler. I dont know for sure what the pinion is on them, I'm gonna guess a 14t. You can buy a new pinion gear, like a 12t or 10t that will help. Or you can buy a new motor, which is what Id do. Get an Integy 45t and you will be set. Be alot more torque that what you have now, alot easier to slow crawl.

I run a 35t and a 16-19t pinion and it has awesome torque response along with some kickup power. Fantastic IMO

Thanks guys. I'll keep that in mind for one of my first mods then. Funny thing is I also have an all stock Axial Scorpion with the stock motor and it seems to crawl slower than the SCX10. Is it because of the bigger tires on the AX 10??

I would go with a motor swap, I like a 35t on stock gearing...Decent crawling and still a little wheel speed. What esc are you running in it?
