I have a stock rs4 evo3+, just wondering whether it's possible to cabletie a silicone pipe to the stinger to redirect exhaust through the back? I don't mind losing a bit of power, I'm just tired of having a very greasy/dirty car after every run.

I'm interested to see what the general opinion is about this, as I've seen 3" Silicone (or just rubber) "exhaust deflectors" at the local hobby shop....

I know how these engines work and how they rely on exhaust resonation to function properly, but I don't think the loss from a few more inches of tubing AFTER the chamber is going to make that much of a difference. At least IMHO..........

lengthening the stinger, could cause the "tuned pipe" to bring too much backpressure, and kill your motor's tune.

yup, the hamsters are either passed out or dead, I'm not willing to check untill it clears out back there.

HAZMAT will have it locked down for a couple hours for sure. Considering the source, it'll be uninhabitable for even longer. :hehe:

I noticed a few of the hamsters reeling and missing an occasional rung, but they seem to be coming around. I'm just a little concerned about the one that keeps staring at me and making that growling noise.

hpi makes a header for redirecting the exhaust to the rear for the mt2. I believe the rs4 has the same chasis and engine placement. I found it on rc planet.com Good luck

What, Woodie didnt tell you about Squiggles? heck, I'm not even on staff and i got the memo to leave him alone and give him extra treats to keep RCNT up and running.

the pipe is made by tsais. It is worth every penny and the car stays clean! it does not suffer from performance neither.

I think it Squiggles that's growling at me. I didn't know they could do that.

Yup, id put money on it. grab your beloved bag of sunflower seeds and throw them in the room. but be quick, if he gets out your gonna be in a world of hurt!

hpi_racer that setup is what I'm after ideally. I couldn't find it on tower, could you pls show me a link to that pipe?

Also the article on the Stingers section says:

"Stinger length is important because its part of the pipe resonance. The wrong stinger length will reduce performance at the upper end of the rpm band. i.e. between peak torque and peak bhp.. There will be maybe one or two stinger lengths that will cut the rpm off at a certain level reducing the 'overrev' which gives the best top speed. There will be one stinger length which gives the best overall power and over-rev. I find no way to calculate that stinger length, trial and error is the only way. Its not dependent upon engine size, just on the pipe design. For example, my best .21 pipe runs over 100mm stinger but my best .90 runs around 60mm. One thing though, very short stingers up to 20mm long don't normally work and extremely long stingers of 150mm to 200 mm can work very well. Once the best stinger length is found, it does not seem to vary if the pipe length is altered."

This is interesting, seems like 200mm stinger lengths can work well so should I take this to mean I would get away with running a long silicone pipe through the back and using my stock tuned pipe?

You might consider using a tube that's larger than the stinger and setting it up with an adapter. That should help to avoid and additional resonance from affecting the performance.
Just my 2 cents. Trial and error. Let us know what works best.
