Interesting. Like I've said though, ill let someone else try it out first.

I'll let several people try it out first lol.

Redcat probably isn't the worst brand out there, but they just do not have the local parts support like Traxxas, Losi, Associated, HPI, etc. If you buy one, be sure to buy plenty of parts along with it.

i had a redcat volcano st and it was a crappy truck anf broke every 10 min of drive time. Engine sukked to keep tuned and parts warehouse was in AZ. Shipping $$ added up quick with 3 or 4 orders a month. I say....NEXT

Looks good but........ Like said above I'll let others try it out for while before I would even consider it. My friend had Redcat truck(nitro) and it was breaking every time out.

Aftershock 8e

Got a aftershock 8e
Fastest truck you will drive, handels great jumps great.
Good batterys, crappy charger and radio.
Need to put bearing in steering linkage and git a better servo.
Body is cool but not very durrable. 1/10 scale axles but seem to hold up.
Cheep phillips grub screws. You can drill out the 2 main shock towers and put bigger screws in or they will break.
Its a good truck for the money just plan on improving things that they
scimped on.
This truck is alot of fun to drive but be carefull. If you like buggys buy the backdraft its the same price and has some better features.
Spare parts are orded from www.redcatracing.com they are cheep but order a hanfull at a time to save on shipping.
They ship UPS only ground or air.

what about aftermarket parts? I had that same issues with my redcat crawler trying to find parts that would be compatible and it was nill I ended up selling it..

This sc truck is sold in Australia under the HSP brand-the esc is a Novatech 70 amp unit-not a bad speedie-the motor is a generic 3300kv with 5mm shaft and Mod 1 pitch. The body is thick polycarbonate and seems quite tough.Tires are poor quality rubber with cheap chrome rims.Transmitter and receiver are just adequate for the job.Spare parts are not a problem here(just as well!)A lot of aluminium parts to make it LOOK good.4 wheel drive with plastic spur gear-not very durable.I suppose it would make an average beginer's vehicle but you pay your money and take your chances!

They are smaller, I've seen them on the track. The drivers weren't that great, but I'd really call them more of a 1/12th scale.

TAC, you must be getting the 8E confused with the smaller 1/10th scale redcat, as I can assure you that the 8E is about 1/2" longer in wheelbase & 1/4" wider than both the SC10 & the Slash.
Now just to be fair, let me say that I not only own an SC10, Slash 4x4 & a hyper 10SC, but I also own the Aftershock 8E, so I can give an honest opinion, rather than hear / say, like most people seem to do when it comes to the Redcat truck.

The Redcat is a great truck - it would be a great truck if it cost $500. It is easily the fastest out of all my trucks, it can be setup to handle just as good as any other truck, and for the most part, is is very durable. I can honestly say that I run this truck on our local offroad track, and have just as good of a chance at winning as anyone who has a $800 setup & I do it with the stock radio, just to prove that point. Now that I have proven that point to the local racers, a few more guys have purchased the truck & now my LHS, carries all the parts that are known to be the weak links.

There are some things that should be changed on the truck, but after they are changed, this truck (in my opinion) is more durable than my Slash, which is saying alot!

Right off the bat, you should change:

swap out steering link to aluminum
swap out front knuckles to aluminum
Fabricate a new steering servo mount, as nobody makes them yet
have some spare body mounts on hand

The radio isn't the greatest & if you will be racing I suggest using a better one, but being 2.4, it will work great for bashing.

You can run it off of 1 pack if you are a beginner, you just have to create a loop for one of the ESC leads. I actually will run 1 pack during slick track conditions.

Cutting the stock tires is a must for racing

My track runs these Redcats with the 1/10 trucks, as they are pretty close in size & our 4x4 class is open (as most are)

If you need to get parts & your LHS doesn't have what you need, there is nobody cheaper, or faster than RUfaster. You can have anything you need in about 3 days, and no matter how much you order (bodies included) the shipping always seems to be about $10

hope this helps

I just sold this truck, if you're not racing oriented fine, but if you're into serious racing don't buy it.

My personal review about this truck:
Stupid fast and very powerful
Poor handling, huge understeer even with tightened servo saver & strong servo.
Poor balance
Odd size (falls in the middle between a Slash and an SC8)
Odd wheelbase (it's shorter than a Slash!)
Phillips screws heaven with those rough thread
Ultra brittle body

Overall it's still fun to drive and bash, but when Jammin SCRT10 came to LHS, it's time for me to sell it...:D
