Redcat Racing Monsoon?

I dont own an rc car yet and I'm wanting a nitro truggy. I was wanting to know if anybody has the redcat racing monsoon and if so should i get it. What other truggies does anybody suggest getting. My current budget is around 300 dollars.

I'm still a newb and I have the Volcano SV. It's not a bad truck but I would say finding parts for any RedCat is going to be tough because I have yet to see any Local Hobby Shops (LHS) support RedCat parts. I will have to soon order some more parts sense I have lost the two things that hold the drive shaft in place for the front and rear wheels.
Oh and for sure, though I am sure the manual should tell you, if you get the Monsoon tighten all your screws and bolts and apply thread-lock. If I had done this my Volcano SV wouldn't be out of commission right now. :\

I am shooting for a Traxxas Slash soon for $200. It's not nitro though only electric. So far I hear it is a blast and from what I have seen a pretty tough lil truck.

I have never owned a redcat but the biggest thing I would consider is buying a truck with good parts support, your best bet would be to go to your LHS and see what they carry, I highly dought it will be redcat, it will more likely be traxxas, hpi, associated, losi, or some other bigger company, find one you like from a brand the LHS carries and has parts for then go on the net and see if you can find a better deal, or maybe your LHS will match it, there is nothing worse then not being able to get parts for your RC, I order online as well as go to my LHS, it just depends on what I need and how long I want to wait for or how soon I need the part...

Right I made the same mistake you are about to, lots of the cars you can buy online are grey imports this means that they are all made by one japanese/chinese manufacturer then sold under various names. Though these cars may be fast, durable, and have good handeling if you were to crash or want to upgrade parts are almost impossible to find or they cost a fortune because they are shipped from japan. I brought a HSP Meteor on ebay second hand this was my first nitro but when it arrived it had low compression and I couldn't find a new piston and liner anywhere. Buy from a well known brand or buy your car from your LHS then they will definatly stock spares. Hope this helps!

Since I'm not so sure about the monsoon anymore what other nitro trucks or truggies should i take a look at. I just looked at the hbx vrx-1 truggy. does anybody know the price for that one?

Never heard of that brand ether, look at Associated, Losi, Traxxas, HPI, Kyosho, Ofna, etc., find some thing your LHS carries parts for...
