I just put a hump pack and a micro fail safe in my savage but now the battery cover wont fit over all of it..I got the reciver pinned down just like you like you would the cover...my question is will it hurt anything just to leave the cover off? it also makes it easier to charge the batter and stuff without having to take that cover off everytime.

You should have the battery connector OUTSIDE the cover, so you don't need to open it to charge it. There's no reason you should be having problems getting the cover secured.

Iv tried every position under it.....i can get it to fit for nothin...You think it will hurt not to have it on?

It didnt come with a battery connecter........

Yes it will hurt it because then nothing is protecting your electronics.

Dont feel bad NitroG....I'm having troube with mine to. i can get the top on but its hard as hell to smash the top down enough to allow the pins to go in the holes. I also have the 5 hump pack. I'm thinking about getting a dremel and cutting out a spot that will allow me to leave the charging harness outside the cover like Rolex suggested.
The wires coming out of the receiver get in the way everytime i try to pin the top down. I'm gonna so some dremel cutting soon.

you should definately keep your electronics covered. If you can't manage to get everything to fit and you're up to a small project you could make you're own battery/receiver box. I made a permanent box around my Futaba 5-cell hump pack out of plexiglass (readily available at home improvement stores, I like Lowe's) and CA glue.

Take a pic of that cover Lesson...I'm interested seeing what u fabricated!!

Here's the thread where I've been posting progress. These pics are mostly of the fuel tank trays and the radio box but in a couple of the pics you can see a black box between the transimission and the exhaust pipe. That's the battery box, it's constructed the same way as the receiver box was.

custom stuff

Thats some pretty cool stuff. Very creative..now uve got my wheels spinning.

Thanks for the pics rossb....I'm ganna get my dad to try rerouting the wires like yours later tonight...(I'm paralyzed with no finger movement and limited hand movement)--Speaking of being paralyzed Christopher Reeve died today he was a great leader in the fight to cure this bitch we like to call a spinal cord injury..

No problem, glad to help. That is what this hobby is all about.

That picture is a little old. I have cleaned up the wiring a bit since then. I shoved as much wiring as possible under the receiver mounting area next to the hump pack and I flattened down the wires coming off the electrical connectors. The charge port sits inside the box, I pop the top slightly and pull out the connector when it is time to charge. Everything fits perfectly. This is what it looks like now:

rossb...do u have the fail safe stuck with a piece of servo tape to keep it in place?

Yes. Both the Rx and the failsafe are stuck to the mounting area with servo tape.

My radio box looks very similiar to rossb's, but I added a charging port to my Trinity 5 cell hump pack.
Works out as a nice setup, protects the electronics, and I don't have to open the box to charge the batt. Took a little time, but was well worth the effort. TIM
